At the very least, you then get the forward line that you want.

If [insert player name here] gets injured the team just has to deal with it.

Is this some strange new usage of the phrase 'cheer squad'???
Reading some of his posts on this subject, I've thought the same thing!

Nice footwork by the Swans again.

Here's how the deal got done. It's great to hear the coach so enthusiastic.

'I was back in Sydney and all of a sudden it got a bit chaotic with phone calls from Andrew and the boys telling me the Bradshaw deal hadn't been done,'' Roos said. ''No one really knew what Braddy was going to do, and then we found out he was out of contract, and frantically rushed around for numbers and made the call. My thinking was, 'If we can get him, we get him. He'd be unbelievable for us.'''

Beautiful article. 1 million for 3 years? Much less than what was originally reporterd.

Very happy with this signing. Will help White in that he will not get the top opposition defender every week Bradshaw will....and he will cope with it very well. Good for the next few years whilst the Swans are in a transition phase.

Any player could sustain a major injury, it goes with the territory. If you are worried about injuries - then look at Malceski, he's lost his zing since having the supposed magic surgery. Should we get rid of him? Goodes has his fair share of niggling injuries too as has Craig Bolton, do you think that because there is a possibility of these niggling injuries becoming worse that they should be discarded too? Of course you wouldn't, so you see what we are saying? to single out Bradshaw on his past injuries (which appear to be well under control and repaired) is really a bit harsh. He is a champion player - who has the runs on the board.

You keep saying that we cant recruit a player unless they are going to be a part of our next premiership team - well sorry to say there are no guarantees in this game - our next premiership may not be for another decade ,hell it may not be for another 72 years - we just dont know. But I feel (well hope) that the football department are in a much better position to decide on who to recruit and who not to recruit than any of us here.

We recruited Jason Ball, he then had almost a year out of the side with shoulder injury, and oops guess what, we won a premiership with him at the helm......hmmm.....works for me.

                  Spot on.

Anything can happen in footy but we are so much better off with Bradshaw on our list than not.

                    Exactly.

I also think of has-beens in Stuart Dew and John Barnes who had 11th hour career premierships. Experience is so bloody important.

We lost a brilliant forward, and we have picked up a brilliant forward with proven goal getting ability. He played almost every game last season. He leads by example. he neatly replaces the player who went.
He has the ability to teach our young gun forward in training on the field. To suggest he is stifling the development of Currie and Johnston, neither of whom has ventured onto the SCG after 2pm yet, is simply silly.

We lost one gun forward and gained another one plus a draft pick. Injuries aside (because you can't plan for those) the one we got is less likely to get reported and more likely to take contested marks and kick goals IMO.

I'll miss BBBH but we've done very well as an end result, and that's without considering our net gains from other trades.

                                ditto.

I like Baz and think he's a big part of Swans Premiership history - and stood and gave him a standing ovation after his speech at the 2009 Club Champion awards. But he has really been annoying me of late on the field with the tantrums and suspensions. And there's all those afternoons waiting to see if Baz had brought his kicking boots or not. Bradshaw on the other hand has always seemed much more a pro. I don't know his stats but I've assumed he'll kick the goal every time he takes a mark within range against us.

Think of it in a different way. Do you think Hall or Bradshaw would have given the Dogs a better shot at a flag in 2010?
