I like Blighty.... At least he's even with his comments and criticism. Walls and Lane are clearly biased though to be honest, I didn't think they were that bad on Saturday. Perhaps after years of crap commentary I've learnt to mentall block them both.

I did enjoy Schwatta's call on Sunday though. Made for commentary I reckon. Good voice, good analysis, a few giggles.

    Double thumbs up!

How about giving Fitzy a gig? He would be far better than Walls

I enjoy Tim Lane's commentary, and enjoyed the call overall on Saturday night - understandably not too serious for a glorified practice match.

I'm usually as quick to jump up and down about anti-Swans bias as the next supporter but nothing I heard the other night fitted that description.

I thought their comments about our youngsters were quite glowing in fact.

Watching the replay I thought they were very complimentary and fair. I was surprised to read this thread.
Walls is an annoying old tool and aside from his posturing over Brock Landers "focus" to explain his poor manners I thought he was ok and Lane was very positive about our youth.
Glowing comparisons made of Rohan to Goddard and Leppitch (Not too dusty).

I really liked after half time when they ran through all the positions for the CArlton player s across the field............. and Sydney have put Adam Goodes to CHF. It was abysmal

                  missing the point

My point still stands the are boring as bat @@@@@.

They are on occasssion very biased but that's life.

Good commentators bring a sense of occassion and add life to the coverage, these guys don't do their homework and simply go through the motions.

Personally i am sick of it and reckon channel 10 needs to tack swift action now. the thought of listening to these pair drone on all year really reduces my enjoyment of the swans.

I agree the commentary was as normally boring as Walls and Lane are but also agree with those who didn't think it was overly biased. Or from Walls anyway, he at least talked about both clubs reasonably evenly. Lane always seems completely disinterested in saying anything about the Swans when he is commentating our games.

I was irritated by one particular comment though - can't remember which of them it was from. It came when the cameras were panned onto Bird, which illicited a comment that he was the Swans first truly homegrown player. Quite apart from the fact that Bird is from Nelson Bay, not Sydney, where on earth did this eejit think Bevan, LRT and Jack hail from. Or do they just know / not care? All three (especially Jack) have received a fair few column inches over their careers about the fact they are homegrown Sydney products - not just NSW boys.

I was irritated by this comment too. Arthur Chilcott made his debut in 1984 FFS. Terry Thripp must have played 5 or 6 seasons for the Swans from the mid-80s. Very talented, shame he was constantly injured.

I don't think the brain engages before mouth. Its just filler noise and its NOT properly considered. It is irritating I agree. Actually its infuriating.

Does anyone out there watch any other games they call and know if they continually stuff up player information with other clubs? Could this be a start of a new thread?

I have seen many games over the years in which Carlton have played and both Walls and Lane have been comentating. Believe me, what we got on Saturday night was not as bad as it could have been.

The bias they 'normally' show towards Carlton is staggering at times, but what we got on Saturday night was quite good compared to other games I have seen them call together.

While I cant stand Tim Lanes inane commentary of swans games, I just felt that on the night, Lane and Walls were dissapointed more than anything in what they were seeing from Carlton. Without Fevola they are pretty woeful and if Saturday night was any indication they are likely to go backwards this year.

I agree. I am seriously considering chucking $50 on them at the juicy odds of $41 to $1 at sportsbet to win the spoon. Apparently if you look at their opening 9 games, its a tough draw and they could easily be 1 win and 8 losses after 9 rounds.
