Mitchell watch

I'm beginning to think that we can drop the 'disguise' from the blessing. He's too slow and turns the ball over too much. He's a liability when in our defensive zone because he can't take more than a couple of steps without getting tackled. We look a better team with someone like Heeney playing his role.Could Mitchell leaving be a blessing in disguise ? I would love to keep him, but our midfield brigade is pretty strong with Heeney and Mills to find spots in there and Hewett also a potential gun. ( along with Parker, Hanners and Joey ) If we can trade in a good outside player ( or draft pick ) then I think it could be a good thing, structurally , for our team.
Let's get the best trade we can for him and move on. I'm sure he'll do well at a team that needs a good ball winning inside midfielder, but that's not us.
If we can't get a good KPP in exchange for him, I wouldn't mind going into the draft with 3 picks inside 40. I think there's some reasonable talent this year in areas that could help us down the road.Comment

By "all", you refer to:
Gareth John - delisted in 1993 after a short injury prone career and then drafted by North
Heath James - delisted and re-drafted a couple of times in another injury plagued career before finally retiring
Stephen Doyle - retired after a long time bridesmaid to better ruckmen
Sean Demoster - who we traded to StKilda even though he and Schneider bith wanted to stay.
I guess you might want to include Anthony Daniher's kids (Joe is the only one of any merit), Dunks Jr (but we passed on him so it's our fault there) & David Round (who didn't really trouble the statisticians. But we never had them so I'm not sure you can count them as stolen, per se.Comment

Tom Mitchel is a gun see ball get ball player. His disposal is not elite by foot. It is by hand. Happy to keep but if we can't would love an elite running half back to replace McVeigh with elite disposal. Can't have to many of that type of player.Comment

Is it me being delusional but I feel that Tom's form has dropped off dramatically since he and his manager have started playing silly buggers with the contract talks. A month ago he seemed to be signed sealed and delivered but the talks are held off until the end of the season which would indicate that he wont be staying. If that is the case I hope that he goes to any other club except Hawthorn and that we get a suitable trade for him.Comment

Yeah I heard he met with Clarkson the day after our game. And now with the news that contract talks are on hold until the end of the season he is definitely gone. I just hope he can still give us 100% until the end of the year and not play like Jetta did.Comment
