I reckon he might come in for Heath. MOD can play half-back, and he deserves more than one game to show his stuff, and everybody else is fairly safe at the moment. I'm impressed with Heath, and I wouldn't be opposed to him keeping his spot, but if somebody has to make way, it should be him. He's had his two senior games, he has got a taste, he's ultimately not best 22 material, but he will be. A bit more time in the ressies won't hurt him now.
I recall Bird racking up reasonable stats when he was only playing 50-70% of a game in the past. I'm looking forward to having him back, even 3/4 done playing off the bench.
As to who goes - maybe someone will be suffering from "soreness".
In last weeks Record there was an article about a game (way back when) where two players dropped out at the last minute, one with a poisoned leg and the other with malaria. Them were the days.

      Hello all.

Been lurking awhile and have read with much interest. Especially in light of the last few games.

Dropping Goodes is unadalterated stupidity. Rising star. Premiership player. Dual Brownlow medallist. A rare bad game and we'll kick him out for who, exactly? Richards? Bevan? Did this happen to Skilton? Or Goldsmith? Or Harvey? Or Ricciutto? Or Buckley (et al). Leave your bongs alone and start thinking with some serious cognitive ability!

Shaw? I don't think so. A solid backman with good run who made a couple of unfortunate fluffs. Not terribly inconsistent. Solid performer in general.

Kirk? Bolton? O'keefe? No loyalty whatsoever if you think these hard-nut stalwarts should be dropped. Let them play to the end of their careers in what is clearly a rebuilding phase. Having said that, I expect better, and I believe they'll give it. Get on it Fellas!!!

      Here it is-

Jetta needs some time in the reserves without question. He can't find the goals, his fast run is dropping off, and I think his young body is starting to feel the heat. He needs some weeks in the reserves to generate some genuine hunger. Presently, he's been given it on a plate. Time to start earning his place. Plus, someone who believes their own hype of "Jetstar" needs to learn some humility. One great game in the pre-season comp matters to naught.

In Jetta's place? Overall I'd say McGlynn, if he's fit. But if he's not, then Vezza. Who else? We know he can kick goals. We know he wants to impress. So let him. We've seen him do it and we know that he can.

Heath deserves some more game time. He has real spunk and the opposition look to want to unsettle him. That doesn't happen to someone that isn't respected. He's done nothing to warrant being dropped. He just needs to present himself a little more. I think he's the type of player we can build a midfield with. Right now, I think he's there. But he won't learn it in the reserves.

Gary Rohan!!! OMG! He can play forward AND back. 5-7 kgs more and he's OUR Brendon Goddard. He's worth playing for the rest of the season in a variety of positions. Sign this Ranga for life. NOW!!!

I think MOD has alot more to show us and he's a solid young performer.

The only change I would make is Jetta for McGlynn (if he's fit-then Vezza). Otherwise? The team just needs to settle.

It's a great time to be a Swans supporter guys, it really is.

        Good first post.

Agree with the majority of what you said with the exception of Heath. Still think he needs time to develop in the ressies.

Rohan already reminds me of Goddard!

Agree - I think because we had a better structure yesterday with Playfair and White closer to goal working together and although Playfair is not a first choice CHF he is big enough and works hard enough and yesterday kicked straight enough to be more than useful. I'd like to bring Jetta further forward and Vesz or TDL to improve the mix. I agree about Hawthorn defence too.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

              Hi Captain.

              Thanks for the response.

I've only seen Heath on the TV. I'm a Melb Cheersquad member and work kept me away from the game (VERY spewing). I was really looking forward to seeing him on the paddock. I think his biggest drawback is that he's lightly built, but he looks like he's pretty hard at it. And I think both Freo and the Hawks were very aware of him too, which is a good thing. No doubt, resv time is good for any young player-but I wouldn't want to see him miss out on senior experience either. At least not for too long.

Rohan is my Son's new favourite player. My parents (3 generations of cheersquad) got my boy to meet him at the aftermatch-got his hat signed, he was stoked! I see a big future for him in the R&W.

              GO BLOODS!!!

I haven't had a chance to catch up on the reserves reports etc from the weekend, but if Bird did alright and is fit, he has to come in. It was patently clear on Saturday that our midfield can't currently get hard ball for quids at the clearances (With the exception of a few times), and Bird has that ability. Imo he has to come in as soon as he is ready, as he clearly is in our best 22.

You could throw Heath in there too, he was the last one in the link working the ball forward before having his kick smothered, the resultant turnover was a goal to the Hawks. If Heath had kicked a second earlier, we might've been a chance at taking the lead for the first time.

Oh Scotty, I assume you are playing with our heads....Heath played his 3rd game and didn't make a perfect decision....I have also been know to have made a poor choice once....it happens.

I love the move of Rohan back - could absolutely see this bloke as our Lake or Scarlett in a few years time. Now wouldn't that be nice?

Heath: Don't want to pan the kid.Its great for him to have got two games.I think his kicking efficiency was in the 30% decile and of course he will make mistakes in the beginning which unfortunately in close games cost you the game.Thats why you introduce young players like this that you wanna give a taste too against Richmond.Still confused why they chose him and not Vespa,or even Meredith but its not the kids fault and he tried hard. The simple fact is he is not in the best 22
Time for the reserves again.Get Bird in as quick as possible. Put TDL in a forward pocket so we actually have someone who can kick a bag of goals if we deliver accurately to him.He was recruited for the very situation we find ourselves in and we don't pick him? What is the point of recruiting him then? As stated before we can pick guys because they are tall, short,a big item, apply defensive pressure etc etc.None of these things will win you the game. You must kick goals!!! Look at the Lions and Fev.He was slow, unfit, didn't chase but won them the game because he can kick goals. So Heath out TDL in,Rohan to defence,Kennedy a rest due to concussion replaced by Vespa or if Kennedy plays maybe give Jetta a rest as suggested

If everyone who played last week is available (hope Kennedy is OK) then:

                            IN: Moore
                            OUT: Heath

If Moore is still not ready, then take a punt on Vesz, it would be a great opportunity for him to play hero (prefer no debuts this week).

Agree with you Hart. Vespa & Meredith are very good kicks. Bird has to come in if fit and would like to see TDL given a chance but I think he needs to be in when we are at our strongest, where he will be the third or fourth forward.
