When they get their chance over the next couple of years, the notion that you refer to will be well and truly blown away. Although I think the likes of Paddy Ryder, Troy Taylor, Liam Jurrah, etc are already changing popular thought.Last edited by Vonsteinman; 22 August 2010, 06:41 PM.Comment

4 of his clangers were frees against (though one was OOF, which is still a disposal issue, but a set shot is different from kicking in general play). Hanners' kicking was actually fine, I thought. A few of his "clangers" were actually kicks that were just judged poorly by their intended recipient. I counted at least a two in which the player he was kicking to slipped over, leading to an uncontested possession to their opponent trailing behind. Technically a clanger to Hanners, but really the mistake was the recipient's. One or two of his clangers were handpasses as he was being slung as well, which are a matter of luck more than skill, and just happened not to fall his way. His kicking and disposal was far better and more solid than last week's.Last edited by BSA5; 23 August 2010, 03:09 AM.Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!Comment

A couple of my favourite moments from last night:
- Bevo's tackle on Griffen
- Jesse's punch to TDL for a goal
- Jude's bizarre bounce and the ball boys thumbs up
- Kizza's goal off his left through traffic
- Jetta's daring dashes through traffic
- Reg's job on Baz.
- The beast (Shaw) on beauty (Gia)
- Pyke's two-fingers to Brian Taylor (figuratively speaking of course as Pyke is too much of a gentleman)
- Teddy's smother and then the bump
- McVeigh's superb clearances, that one-handed grab and goal
- Trent Dennis-Lane hard work in the forward line being rewarded with 4 goals (great game)
Really happy with our performance last night and good to see us follow-up last week's game with another really even performance. With Moore and McGlynn to come back we have a side capable of scaring a few teams in September.
There is something about Brett Kirk's big beautiful smile that gives you a happy heart when you are the footy. He just makes you glad to be there. Beautiful man! Beautiful night!
Did anyone note the surname a very slight Nbr 11 on the Indigenous high flyers (red team)? With a surname of Jetta-Bolton he's surely a future draftee for the swans.
Loved the work of the defence - Teddy is doing his very best to stay in the 22. Just a fabulous night from start to finish, and I can't think of a single player that didn't contribute solidly.Comment

Meredith's game worthy of mention - I thought his best senior game for the club, showed some real class and endeavour and was busy throughout the game.Comment

Wasn't it great to hear the commentators on the replay comment on how fast we are and how slow we made the doggies look! Brought a wry smile to my face!Comment

The simple fact is we are all playing well. Of course Meredith would play well coming into a winning side where confidence is high. Run past a pack and you find the ball in your hands! For TDL its make a space and someone kicks the ball to you. This is not to downgrade these players,it is just to recognise that a winning side is a confident side where run and make a space and you will be rewarded. Both Teddy and Bevan have run into form.Teddy has surprised me with his pace but not having the stress of stuffing up in front of goal and losing the game, has released him to play a Scarlett like role. Well done Teddy and now a selection headache if LRT and C. Bolton are ever available. What turned it all around?
IMO the midfield has got on top ,particularly Jack who gives us clearance after clearance.Kirky also lifted his game. This saw the whole team lift and Roosey not dropping anyone gave them confidence.
Bevan by the way , time and time again demonstrates that he is very good in the role of defensive forward. He is a reasonably reliable kick for goal and he hammers the opposition hard. To me in the backlines he is a little fragile and prone to brain fades. Why not keep him up forward? What a shame we don't have a fit Bradshaw and C. Bolton . We could certainly give the top 4 sides a shake then and maybe still will without them! Go swannies!Comment

Bevan gets a reprimand, can't remember the incident myself
Paul Bevan, Sydney Swans, has been charged with a level one engaging in rough conduct offence against Ryan Griffen, Western Bulldogs, during the second quarter of the round 21 match between the Sydney Swans and the Western Bulldogs, played at the SCG on Saturday August 21, 2010.
In summary, due to a five-year good record he can accept a reprimand and 70.31 points towards his future record with an early plea.
The incident was assessed as negligent conduct (one point), low impact (one point) and body contact (one point). This is a total of three activation points, resulting in a classification of a level one offence, drawing 125 demerit points and a one-match sanction. He has an existing five-year good record, reducing the penalty by 25 per cent to a reprimand and 93.75 points towards his future record. An early plea reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to a reprimand and 70.31 points towards his future record.

He becomes the 3rd player this season to become Mummied (after Mummy and Guerra) - though there was a Cat player who might have been done for a similar incident earlier in the round, so Bevo might be number 4. It does seem random. Bevan's tackle was strong but no worse than 100s others laid this year.
Actually, re-reading that, he hasn't been Mummied because he's not been charged with "high contact". In which case, I fail to see how there was anything wrong with Bevo's tackle if Hudson's hit was deemed to be OK.Comment

Hunt has been charged for a "Mummy" tackle but no mention of various others I saw on the weekend including Goldsack for the Pies. It's like a chook raffle.Comment

Unbelievable.
This is a "line in the sand" moment for the club.
I would like to see them fight this as if he lost we could probably cover him next week and at the very least the club have the opportunity to get in front of the MRP and point out all the inconsistencies in their decision.
To have these activation points hanging over him for that just stinks.Comment
