Dammit. I liked MOD. I really think if he'd been given a better go he could have been something.

I think Barlow had potential, tall, strong, quick, fit...... too bad he was a crappy footballer.
I saw on big footy a thread about trdaing him and someone asked what position he played. The reply was CHB (B for bench)I See It But I Don't Believe It!!!!Comment

He was really unlucky this year, in that he was flying in the reserves at the start of the year when it was close to impossible to break into the senior team, and when spots opened up, he'd badly injured his shoulder and missed a month or so of footy. He never really regained his early season form after that.Last edited by liz; 15 October 2010, 07:12 PM.Comment

Any chance either of the delistings could be picked up again via rookie draft or the other drafts?Comment

Yeah I liked him too. When he did play in the seniors he found plenty of the ball and his much maligned disposal accuracy was pretty good. Wouldn't be surprised to see him get picked up by another club.....In fact I'd be surprised if he wasn't.Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... As one re: Cheese as well, no tears shed here.
I reckon Gilly could be worth another stint as a rookie and it would not surprise to see him at pre-season training.Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09Comment

It looks like most of the ressie watchers are as one re: MOD, sad to see him go. Agree with Liz, he's shoulder injury came at a most unfortunate time for him.

All the physical attributes doth not maketh the player. He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.Comment

Apparently MOD was enjoying being a fit young man about town - perhaps enjoying it too much.... Maybe this would serve as a wake up call, and if given another chance he'll knuckle down. He seems to read play well, and have something to offer.
Good luck to both him and the CheeseComment

Yep ugg, that was my first response too. He said at the beginning of the year "yadda yadda yadda". It made no difference.
Don't you want to just sometimes grab them by their ears, give them a shake, and yell "look at me!!! I used to be 21 too, and now I am not!!! Life is not permanently lived at your current age and fitness level"!!!!!If you've never jumped from one couch to the other to save yourself from lava then you didn't have a childhoodComment

If not surprising, it's somewhat unexpected to me. The "final delistings" bit, I mean. With only 4 retirees/delistings (from the senior list) and the inevitable rookie promotion of Pyke, that's just 3 picks used in the ND (and none in the PSD). I know that there's no longer a 3-pick minimum, but even so, it's a pretty skinny list turnover given that there aren't mass axings from the rookies either. And that's presuming that we replace Kirk on the veteran's list (no reason to think we won't). I suppose from the other perspective, it's a vote of confidence in the quality of our list.
Edit: why does the article say "at least three selections"? Contrary to the start of the story, holding out some possibility that these might not be the final changes? Or just holding fire on Pyke's permanent promotion?Last edited by SimonH; 16 October 2010, 11:47 AM.Comment
