Just checked Centrebet - 1.84 Bris and 1.97 Sydney.

I must say that surprises me a bit, but it can be argued Brisbanes form in the past few weeks is as good as ours and it is on their dunghill.

That said, our record at the Gabba is pretty good and has been for some time.

OK here is some crazy talk....

Drop teddy. ONLY because of his 1st qtr last game, harsh, i know but imagine if we had lost last week, all eyes would have been on Teddy.

          Move LRT to defence

          Bring in TDL

LRT and Goodes to take turns helping out Seaby in the ruck.

Heard Longmire on SEN last night state that TDL is certainly pushing for selection this week, however the reason he has not yet been picked is that he only really played one good game a few weeks back (when he kicked 7) then hurt is ankle and missed a bit of training. He performed well this week in kicking 6, however he has only really played 2 good games this year.

Its too hard to have a part-time ruck playing defence. They dont get any rest and its too hard to reshuffle at the back.

goodes could do it around the ground and it might help him a bit more by playing on someone who is forced to run with him who isn't suited to this role (circa 2003) instead of the more negating type player that he commonly gets. But if LRT did it and he was playing defence then goodes would have to go stand his man while seaby is resting.

and i simply wouldn't be dropping ted. hes been playing pretty well and the first five minutes had as much to do with a terrible midfield as him being led to the ball.

having said that its difficult to know who he would play on. you certainly wouldn't want it to be brown - that would remind me too much of saddington playing on brown which was just awful to watch.

Good points.... as i said.... crazy talk

Could move Johnston down back, keeping LRT in the same role and Goodes doing whatever he wants....?

Oh, and Goodes needs to sort out his kicking!! He is less than a 50% chance at kicking a set shot! That really hurts when its a senior player in the forward line.

2KY radio this morning ran their news bulletin and during the sports news mentioned that TDL was close to being recalled this week.

I know that doesn't mean much but I found it kind of strange that they would run with that news item. Are they just repeating what Horse said?

I've been giving our Mids a hard time but I agree with the Parker out/TDL in switch with Benny to play more in the centre.

Ruck is the real problem. Brisbane have two athletic ruckmaen who will run Seaby off his legs. He needs help. Mumford, Pyke and White are all injured. That leaves LRT, Goodes and Currie as the only options. There is no one else as Gordon was forced into the relief ruck role in the 2's after White was injured. LRT was clueless against the Kangas in ruck. I would send him to the 2's to learn how to ruck but I am worried that we may need him for Brown if Brown gets on top of Reg. Putting Goodes in ruck has some appeal as he is seriously out of touch and it might run him into form but if he gets injured it could be season over. Fairly high risk. Currie is untried and while going OK in the 2's has not been absolutely demanding selection. He may be worse than LRT in ruck but that won't cost us too much as LRT is no good anyway. TDL has to come in and sorry but that horrible shanked kick for goal from Parker means he would be the unlucky one. TDL and Currie in, LRT and Parker out but with little confidence that that is the answer. I am very nervous about this game which we must win and theoretically should win easily.

Trent's likely recall may be the tonic Swans need

Brisbane have not been as bad as their win/loss record indicates - they have not been that far off. We will need to lift our recent form in order to beat them.

actually given that we have both played north within a week there is a pretty clear form line to read - which makes us not too far away from them or to put in reverse - them not too far from us.

i think its a toss of the coin job and a bit like the hawthorn game who wins around the ball will win the game. If we can keep black quiet and keep the ball going forwards often enough with clean possession we wont have merrett mark everything and we should win. if not they will probably win.

I am just hoping that in this one game we dont bomb it long and our half back flankers actually have some space to move and deliver the ball to some leading forwards.

In Footy its sometimes difficult to play at a high standard if your opponents are crap. The reason for this is the unpredictability of what a poor side will do. A good side like Geelong will make a predictable play and can pull it off ,a side like North you have no idea where their ball will go.Hence confusion and topsy turvy play. Playing debutantes at FF doesn't help our scoring either but it was the ideal game to introduce Lewis. He can only be better for the experience.
So just maybe our game was dragged down by North and a new Swans outfit this week will play a better brand of football.
