Everitt showed as much as LJ in contests forward of centre and is a little quicker from what I have seen. i'm not sure he is a ff, but neither is LJ at this stage.

i think we are in the unfortunate position of having a lot of players of similar playing ability (fringe 22 players) who can replace each other reasonably well without having much impact on the overall performance of the team.

i think Parker has looked pretty good (shanked goal kicking aside) and will be back. LJ has played on some stronger bodies but will get better. he now knows he can get there he just needs to improve.

i'm not disappointed in these selections - I think we have a slightly stronger attack and i don't think we lose much from the rest of the field - both everitt and tdl can play hff if necessary or one out in the goal square.

LRT will do what he did last week. Ignore the field placings in the selected side.

      probably follow Clarke all day.

What is the weather forecast for Brisbane?

Fine, min = 11, max = 24. Looks showery off the coast though, so that may change closer to the day.

I agree with the changes....As promising as he looks I watched LJ closely last week and he looked a little lost sometimes and got beaten quite a few times by his opponent, which is of course expected at his age and experience. TDL just had to come in and he is the obvious replacement up forward. I am hoping everitt will be more value than parker!

Just remember that TDL looked lost in his first game as well. Is it Everitt/Jesse of LJ? Just stick with one geez. I have to say I would rather Jesse than Everitt but i gather he will be the Sub. If you give LJ exposure to the big time he might just surprise us. It's pretty hard though when you give a guy one game only.

Horse says that Everitt can play forward or back, so gives us more flexibility. I think most people on this site reckon he's not a bad forward but is downright dangerous (to us!) as a defender. I'd rather have seen Johnston kept because he is genuinely versatile.
Glad to see TDL back in; bad luck for Parker but his time will come again fairly soon, especially if there are further injuries.
I think LRT makes a better stick-him-in-the-goalsquare type of full forward/assistant ruckman; he can certainly take a pack mark, and if he's not too far out he can kick a goal. Though we may have to use him on J Brown, depending how Reg goes. As for Ted on Brown, an even worse mismatch than last week.
Still, in the circumstances not a bad side.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Which is odd, given last week he was telling us how Johnston could now play at both ends.

I've reflected a little more since I first read the news and though I am still a little disappointed, it could be argued that we really need a FF at the moment (especially in the absence of either Mummy or Pyke to rest down there) and that Everitt is probably slightly better equipped to play at FF than Johnston, at least at the moment. It's not really an ideal position for either, but maybe less bad for Everitt. It is also possible they want someone else who can provide some ruck relief for Seaby and Everitt is certainly more capable of that than Johnston.

Everitt's bigger body also a better matchup against Merrett?

It comes down to match up's this week.

With Brisbane's tall forwards, it means that LRT will be needed almost exclusively down back and with the second ruck option gone, it came down to either Johnston or Everitt to play the FF/second ruck option to support Seaby (who needs more support than Mummy).

A bit harsh on Johnston, but in the end it makes sense. If Mummy was playing I reckon he may have stayed over Everitt.

Parker was probably due for a rest and I don't think anyone can question why we have brought in TDL for our forward line structure.

All up, this side looks a lot more balanced to play Brisbane than just sticking to the 22 from last week.

I don't think there are too many others on the team who would've kicked the goal he did.
And in a side struggling to kick goals (behinds we are good at) I would have thought it would have kept him in the team. I can't see Everitt offering any more up front than Johnston, and maybe after a nervous first up game he could offer even more than last week (I don't think I made sense with that sentence - too bad I'm leaving for home now).

You should also remember that TDL got dropped after looking lost, went back to ressies knowing what was required, worked at it and looked a different player when he returned. LJ will hopefully do similar.

True. What I was trying to say is that just because he may have looked lost doesn't mean he doesn't deserve to be there. Maybe the Reserves stint will serve him well but what are they going to do with him? Play him down back again or forward now? I was just trying to say that LJ was never really going to come in and have a blinder in our current set up with our current form. He deserved to stay for mine. Horse talked him up for weeks and they pull him. Maybe that's the ploy - drop him to reserves to make him work that bit harder - but they obviously feel he deserves to be there so keep him there and give him a go. One thing most players will say is that they want stability in the team. When you have a stable team things begin to click. You won't click when you are changing forwards every week. Mids will get used to LJ, LJ will get used to them. Just as what happened with TDL (reserves stint or not). TDL also got 2 games initially and when he came back his stats improved after the first initial few games, you would argue due to experience. These kids need a few in a row.

I am staggered how many chances some players get, LJ very very unlucky, why does Jetta get 20 games at 1 touch per week with a 'roving' role and LJ one off in a tough position. If Everitt deserved to be dropped then why does he come straight back. We may be feeling our way with all these new players but I still see a lack of reasoning in our selection policy.
