Disappointed for Johnston (Parker too in a way but not surprised) but Longmire said they couldn't find a match up for him so I have faith that he will get another chance when the game plan/match ups calls for it!
I am a little disappointed to see Parker miss out, but not overly surprised.
I just don't get why they would leave Johnston out after just one match. Everitt didn't even play last week so it's not like he has made himself un-notpickable.
You don't think TDL was the swap for Johnston? I guess Johnston could have played the Everitt role. Anyways, looks like the substitute rule has taken another victim.
To be honest I was a little afraid for LJ this week after seeing what Merrett did during the Crows game and feared he might be made the scapegoat if Merrett started pushing him around. But looking at the Reserves' matchups against the Lions Reserves, there is a very good chance that LJ could be used in defence in that game, which will not help his chances of a recall to the seniors.
I think Everitt is a little stronger in the upper body than LJ, but to be perfectly frank both have little idea in the one-on-one wrestling contests. I still think it's viable to have Everitt, Reid and LJ in the same forward line and perhaps rotate the trio around positionally as they are all good, hard leads.
I like this line-up for this week. I think it is our strongest possible taking into account the injuries of jack and mumford (and pyke?). I'm glad to see Alex Johnson has cemented his place in the team; hes showing some real talent and potential.
TDL for LJ is a good changes for mine. LJ has had a taste of seniors and can go back to the seconds knowing what he has to do. TDL is a genuine goal kicker who offers something different.
Parker for Everitt is more of a surprise to me but it must be a match up issue because Parker offered quite a lot in three quarters last week IMO.
