Just on this one, be wary of the number of Collingwood fans around you when you call it out- shouldn't cause offence at all, but may cause some confusion with a large number of people assuming you are addressing them rather than the umpire.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Most hilarious thread I've encountered on this site... will now enjoy the game tonight whatever happens... someone has to get a photo of RY with Joffa, pretending to strangle him ... perfect image and story for back page of The Herald Sun on Sunday...

Sry Des, just saw the meet-up part.

I suggest we meet again at the bar behind Aisle 119 (hopefully it will be open this time). I'll be at the ground for gates at 5 and will make my way around to the bar around 6. I reckon Big Al and a few others will front up, so see everybody there.

Yup, got here late last night (wacko cab driver - but that's another story)

Chillin' right now at the Circular Quay, we'll be headed out to catch the ferry shortly, if we can figure out which landing to disembark and which bus (56?) to take from the landing to ANZ.

See you mates there, and go Swans! We'll be the nut jobs from the States jobs wearing the red and white (Hawaiian) Leis.

Be sure to call us out if you see us - we'll be clueless, but it's all fun.

                Did I mention Go Swans?

Hope you had fun RY. It was certainly a game and a half.

Sorry you had to endure the train ride from hell on the way back. Remiss of me not to warn you.

Cracker of a game tonight, RY. I hope it was an enjoyable and interesting experience for you.

Diappointing we lost, but that's how it goes. It was actually a hell of an effort against one of the competition's best teams.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

It was great to meet the Random Yank family last night. Aside from not winning you snagged a wonderful game to showcase the unique and incredible game of Aussie Rules.
Note it was only 7 points that stopped you having to relocate permanently to Sydney.
Thanks for the fantastic red and white leis - they are going straight to the pool room and will now make special appearances at each Collingwood game in your honour.
                      Have a great trip!

Unfortunately didn't get to the game until after (Dane) Swan's opening goal. Who's got the photos of the get together? Random Yank, I think you would have had a fantastic initiation to the great game of Aussie Rules.

                          What a Great Time!

Terrible of me to reply so tardy, over a day after our Swans game, and what a time it was!

Almost like a "why you should move to Australia" advert, it was a perfect day (only capped by coming up a few points short - but a great game nonetheless). I will highly recommend others do the same for a taste of local flavor. Great way to meet and spend time with several thousand of your new best friends.

A major shout out to all the Red and White crazies (I mean that most respectfully) who made us feel especially at home, and for all the 'care and feeding' provided. It made for a truly memorable event that we will chat up for quite some time.

When we've mentioned to other locals that we attended footy, we have been asked "who did you cheer for?" and were responded to positively when we answered "the Swans, of course". Funny how going to the game seems to provide instant credibility with locals we've met.

This is such an amazing place, the people are fantastic, and the Red and White crowd was unbelievable. Although perhaps a sin to say so here (anti-trash talk?) the dreaded Woodie Pies (can I say that here?) were decent as well, even if some were dentally challenged (fixed it!).

As a result of everyone's kind efforts at hosting, we feel fully invested as fond advocates of our brothers and sisters down under.

Cheers to you all! You've got much to be proud of and thankful for (not just AC/DC, but that, too). I only hope that you will be treated half as well when you visit the States!
