RIP Jesse Whites Career Part II

He didn't star, he didn't dominate, but he did contest and lead and did all the things he just hasn't been doing in his previous visits to the seniors. Was good to see.

I'm with you B. I saw him hand pass almost horizontally off the ground (he hadn't actually hit it yet, gawd it was quick) which resulted in a goal. That's what we need from him. I think he could make a name for himself if he continues to pass like a bullet in stupidly difficult circumstances.

The other thing I noted (he was after all a project player of mine, and I have been disappointed that my brilliant initial assessment hasn't been fully fulfilled, yet, perhaps), is that when he has a stint in the 2s he comes back with new knowledge. He then gets dropped again, and he comes back with a bit more. Slow maybe, but perhaps the finish will be worth it. He is after all a terrific "protector" for his team mates.

Well, I confess to nearly choking on my beer when I saw Jesse bust a pack - not once, but at least three times! What happened? Did someone put Dencorub in his jocks before the game or something? As has been stated, he didnt star, but he showed one or two things that fanned the dying embers of hope that I had in him. Is this the new Jesse or is he simply being cruel to us?

I know Jesse is starting up his own clothing design company as well and having being exposed to different aspects of life can improve other areas as well. I really believe it's a mental thing for Jesse. Let's hope in the coming years he starts to realise what he is able to achieve on the field and start delivering. There was something different about Jesse this week, focus, determination, attention to detail...
Normally if he makes a mistake/misses a goal he retreats, yesterday he shrugged off any errors and just kept on going. It was a welcome change, hope he keeps it up and builds on it next season

I will take the win but to praise a forward line that kicks 9 goals after 69 entries into the forward 50 is a bit much. Our forwards were dreadful! Just about any other forward line in the AFL would have notched 20 goals with all those opportunities.

However, mate, sometimes when a team is out of form you just have to graft a win any which way you can...and we did! It's amazing what a win (no matter how they come) can do to the mental side of a team. Just wish we wern't playing Geelong in Geelong the week after!!

They obviously didn't kick straight, but they had 33 scoring shots from 69 inside 50s- so just shy of scoring every second time the ball goes into the forward 50.

I finally rewatched the game last night and thought Jesse played one of his better games for the season. Finally played like Tarzan rather than Jane, lead well at times and contested hard and busted packs when necesssary. I would be suprised if the coaches werent happy with his game. If they kicked straight and the score was 23.10 rather than 10.23 we would be celebrating a 80 point win against a form side.

Agree, but inaccuracy can be a bigger mental issue than winning/losing. Failure to take opportunities this week could end our season I reckon (still make the finals maybe but scars wont heal quickly from a major thrashing), they must must must find their range and they have to walk away from Geelong, win or lose, knowing they can take on the world.
