Well that was indeed a good and extremely funny read, what a difference a year makes!
Good on those for having the balls to now say "I was wrong", unfortunately after reading this thread from go to woe there are plenty more that should stand up and say it also.

I for one am so proud of our club and the way it is run, regardless of what happens for the remainder of the year, the succession plan has been a resounding success and we haven't had to be subjected to the crap that goes on at most other clubs. Just look at what has happened in the past twelve months at Melbourne, The Dogs, Freo, Adelaide and now less then two years after shafting Choco, Port give Primus the boot and then chuck in the never ending speculation over Ratten. We haven't had to face any of that garbage!
Our much loved and admired premiership winning coach decided he could do no more for the club so he appointed his replacement then they spent two (?) years working together to build a team that they hoped would be a genuine contender. Now, in less time then I thought it would take, Longmire has us playing like we are just that.

    God I love this club!

My favourite out of many of Buckenara's "how not to coach" methods was when he made the players crawl laps around the SCG on a cold wet training night. Three players got infected knees out of the episode, with Robert Neal (who could have been anything) missing a lot of football due to his infections.

In relation to Longmire, regardless of what he and the Swans achieve for the rest of the season, those who bagged Horse should have a long hard look at themselves. This clubs going places - I'm really excited about the young players who are regulars (read. Parker, Jetta, Reid, Johnson, N. Smith, Hannebery et al) and out of the side injured or building up for senior action (read. Mitchell, Rohan, Lamb, Brown, Lockyer, Cunningham, Lynch et al).

      You're forgetting Col Kinnear!!!

The man(who is a staunch Carlton man) who I believe was sent by Carlton to help finish us off so Carlton could inherit our market in Sydney.

A coach of very @@@@ ability.

              hehe.

I was never opposed to the succession plan or Longmire, but had my doubts.
Given where we are now, I cannot complain. Well I could (damn 3 losses), but I not going to!

Agree - he has turned our playing style around - much to the surprise of many. We only need to beat the pies by 1 point- I'd prefer it to be by 50 of course, but you can't always get what you want.
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

I personally think Roosy had a massive impact on Horses stature and the way he conducts himself out of the Coaches box, how he handles the media and players seems to be very similar. The succession plan was perfect as Roos was and probably still would be a very good coach but all we needed was a young(er) and fresh new mind in charge.

One thing I like about Horse's handling of the media is that he doesn't have Roosy's verbal tic "...just a bit..." to modify any negative statement. He just says what he has to say. I like his direct and straightforward approach. A bit like his game plan, come to think of it.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

                            I'm crying, I'm so touched.
Thanks to those who ordered fries and have seen the error of their ways.

                            Horse is a legend.
Not only has he kept Roosey's defensive game... he's remembered that you have to kick goals - not just stop them.
                            That's been the difference.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

I'm happy to see things going heaps better than I expected but I won't take the boot while I'm down. I'll say I was WRONG when we do well in the finals. I don't think I ever said Longmire wasn't up to it. What annoyed me was we had only one ruckman. That change was pretty much forced on him. He's down brilliantly with the midfield and attacking side of our game and the defense has got even better. I am still vaguely troubled that in finals in finals intensity we might need more in the way of forwards.
