This game is being touted by the media as the Game of the Year.

One thing must be remembered. People outside Sydney don't know we exist (excluding our other members of course). I doubt very much whether anything we have done has made any indent into the phsyche outside of those with Swans memberships.

We lost by one point, could have gone either way, unfortunately for us it was them!! ... this time. Those mad bomber fans were feral they didnt stop yelling all game. They have an almost paranoid feeling where Sydney and the umpires are concerned, they match West Coast fans with their vitriol. Now this is not all Bomber fans of course. Our kicking let us down as was obvious but on a positive note it was the fastest most fascinating game this year (from a neutral stand point - neighbour). All that aside gutwrenching to come so close to a win but not the end of the world, much to look forward to with our sqad. Goodsey the legend and Sam Reid the future star... Hanners hard as nails.

According to this dude from the Age, Goodes could be cited for his block on Monfries. Surely not???

Nothing would surprise me... no free kick from it but they go through these videos with a fine tooth comb. I very much hope not nothing in it.

Ridiculous if he is, it was a good old whack but nothing untoward about it I think.

I can understand if it's noted for review by the MRP because the field umpires may not have seen the contact entirely and Monfries went down like a sack of spuds, that's what they're there for, but if they watch it and think he has a case to answer then madness abounds in the hallowed halls of AFL central.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Without going through this thread nor having the rulebook handy (or looking through progressive scores), when Goodes punched it through, the point isn't/wasn't counted was it?

on the night i thought he was in trouble. watching it on the screen at ES it looked like monfries dropped the ball and goodes chose to play the man rather than the ball - they hate the approach where a player runs past the ball to lay a bump. OTOH he didnt shirtfront him by hip and shoulder so much as stand in his way and knock him over - and i dont think goodes ran past the ball either so muchas let the ball go past him.

I do think it could go either way.

I'm pretty sure it becomes a potential 7 points.

I read that article too - but then read that it was written by Jesse Hogan. He is a dreadful reporter.

I don't think Goodes will have a case to answer. Monfries flung his head back and then fell over, but I don't think there was significant contact to his head to warrant a report. It was hardly a malicious act.

Agree. I think Keiran could be in a bit of trouble though, hopefully not.

I went to the game with some friends all Essendon supporters and sat in the Essendon members seats (borrowed a membership) and i must say the usually feral supporters were very reasonable. Considering i was cheering all the Swans goals and was completely outnumbered. They are quicker to bag their own then us. Much like a Swan supporter (or just me).

I won't blame Goodes for the winning kick. Just the punch and the two sodas he missed. Brilliant otherwise
Hanners courage running with the flight was right in front of me and was awe inspiring.

Will need to watch a replay to check what other posters have said i.e Jetta, Kenneally and Jude

Pretty proud leaving the game for the spirit they played with!

Why? Beacause we're an inconsistent, middle of the road team like about half a dozen others? That's just a fact and I can't imagine why anyone would be laughing at us. We lack a forward line and a bit of class but we have a crack pretty much every week.

I was gutted/angry on Saturday night like everyone else but try following Richmond or Port Adelaide if you think life as a Swan is tough.

Oh and by the way, TDL is the most overrated player in Swans history.

Actually "Kenny" was texting me the scores as I was dining at a pub in Tamworth on Saturday night - with Kenny, Dolly and Willie playing in the background (well it is expected in them thar parts!) - so thanks again Big Al. I was listening to the wireless going back across town later on and they played the last 2 minutes of the game when Adam missed the goal - it sounded like a ripper game, and great atmosphere - but it really, from what you all say, was a game where we should have won but we blew it.

Our goal kicking has really let us down this year, we need to get back to basics. We need a good goal kicking coach, and we need him now.

If Kennelly was doing the same running in cirlces, hand passing to a person under pressure and kicking to he oppoisition thing which I have already seen a couple of time this year, then its time for him to stand down. its just not good enough and surely his premiership credits have expired by now.

So now the next 4 weeks - three are totally winnable except Geelong (I guess we can all pray for a miracle at Kardinia Park - GoSwannies14 seeing as you are a man of the cloth and all- get cracking seeing as you live in Geelong now)

Still the Good news is that Tamworth now has 2 AFL sides - theTamworth Kangaroos but more importantly there are the TAMWORTH SWANS!!!! (who played in Armidale on the weekend)
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................
