Thankfully the Tigers beat those nasty Saints on Friday night otherwise my whole weekend would have been shot to bits. Thank you Benji...And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Same! I sooked out of watching the normal footy shows I watch on Monday night and I'll have to IQ AFL360, so I can fastforward past their first look at commentaries from a key moment because I know damn well which moment they will choose this week!Comment

I'm watching this game again during my commute. Watched the 1st quarter this morning. Just a great game. Some observations:
The myth that the umpiring favoured us early in the game is just that... a myth. There was only one contentious decision that went our way - the deliberate OoBs by Dyson on our HFF. Parker took a great contested mark against 2 opponents from the resultant free, but missed a pretty easy shot at goal. Yes it was a harsh decision but Parker earned that shot at goal. Not exactly gamechanging.
Of much more consequence was the 3 clear as day Hands in the Back free kicks that did not get paid in our forward line.
The 1st was to that man Parker, with McVeigh not only putting his hand in the middle of his back and giving him a good shove but also chopping his arm. Luke could arguably have been paid the mark anyway - he clunked it pretty cleanly. Roos and Dunst both express disbelief during the replay.
The 2nd was when Kennelly wins a free for sitting on Monfries after he dived on the ball (hate the rule, but clear cut HTB). He sets it up to the top of the square. As Goodes gets ready to launch at it, he is pushed squarely in the back by Myers and goes flying. Missed completely by the umps and commentators, but a deadset free kick that should have be paid. Dunstall comments that noone put their hands up to mark the ball, well no @@@@ing wonder.
The 3rd again involved Goodes, one on one with Fletcher deep in the pocket. Goodes in position A, Fletcher is beaten. His only recourse is a desperate push with his hand right between the 3 and the 7. No call.
I was looking for any obvious noncalls that went our way in their forward line. Our backs were squeaky clean, apart from Mattner's clumsy in the back that gave them their 1st goal. Probably because if they aren't they get pinged.
After Hille misses a deadset sitter, we go coast to coast with the best kickin movement I can remember all year. A bit of luck involved when Fletcher gets a bad bounce, then Jack puts Adam on his way only for him to miss an even easier one than Hille down the other end. That would've really hurt them.
2nd quarter on the way home.Comment

Good news, it's only 4 days until we belt the Tigers and put that disappointment behind us.
For me I'm already looking forward to watching Pyke,LJ,Lamb and co going around in Queanbeyan on Sunday.Last edited by Big Al; 10 August 2011, 08:15 AM...And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. OMalley. I am intrigued. On a train? plane? bus? Were you cheering, or screaming at any point. Anyone look to be dialing 000?If you've never jumped from one couch to the other to save yourself from lava then you didn't have a childhoodComment
