I picked the wrong game to miss. Went to Port Melbourne instead, and listened on the old transistor.
I wasn't the only swans fan to do so, there were a few others there!!

Good win by the boys. So proud of Ranga, had me pumping my fists in glee with that first goal.
Looks like Parker did alright to from the highlights I saw.

Can they jointly nominate all of Parker, AJ and Rohan for this week's RS nomination?

Can't wait to get home and watch the replay. Might be a very late night tonight.

How good was "Jude" Parker today? What a find.

Meredith did quite well in his 3rd game of the season. Would have been great for Gordon to be there with the team even if it was on the sidelines.
I was worried about how we would replace Jude when he finally calls it quits - but why did I ever worry. Parker has impressed me every time he has played this season, and he was fantastic again today. I feel from Rd 1 next year he will be a permanent fixture in our side. He is just one of a number of young guns that have stood up to be counted- and shown along the way that we are not far off having a group of players that can seriously challenge for the flag again very soon.

The sheer pleasure of that game will longer a lot like the saints preliminary final win. Standing on the bank behind the goals amongst the crowds of Geelong fans (which had thinned considerably by the end btw) I kept waiting for things to go wrong. But when spangher kicked that goal I actually started to believe we could win that game and when we kicked one every time
They got one in the last quarter I couldn't believe that we were actually going to lose. The team was so pumped and I am so pleased that tadhg played that game. Even if he doesn't get another contract I so wanted to see him leave us as a winner and this will linger a long time in my memory.

Not too long back from the long trek down the highway, but how sweet is the drive home when you beat that mob down. It's been a long time, but still just as sweet.

You just had to pinch yourself at half time to believe we were in front and going well. The Cats supporters were so quiet in the outer. Not that you could hear a pin drop because the Swans supporters were shouting themselves hoarse. After the siren we all went nuts behind the goals to the left of the tele screen. I believe the Geelong supporters were genuinely in shock. Hadly a word was said as they trudged out.

On 3AW on the way home they said it was the best game they had seen Goodes play, but I can't see how he was as good as Mumford. Not a mention though of Smith's blanket job on Johnson. He didn't give him a sniff. By gee Spangher gives us something up forward. Taylor took him at the start and he really gave their defenders something to chase. He seems to really know where to go on leads and run to space.

They still have to get Reg away from the last line of defence. He made some terrible errors but from where we stood Tadgh played a much better game.

I am back on McGlynn after a stellar game, and he played in the midfied.

I must make mention of Sam Reid. His last quarter was outstanding. He took marks all over the ground and played way beyond his maturity to go down back and help. He made his own luck by simply playing in front up forward.

That was about Shaw's best game for us. He was fearless early and really took the game on by bursting through packs, setting up plays and running past for handpassess.

That's 8 quarters of dominant footy in the last 2 weeks.

SEN, I think Drew Morphett, reckoned Parker should get it this week, but given there are still 5 games to come...

I have a tear in my eye. Even though there were nervous moments all through the game as the Cats had flashes of their normal brilliance, and especially in the nail-biting last 10 minutes, you sort of sensed a steely resolve by the Swannies that were NOT going to let this game get away from them. A fantasitic effort and a real tribute to their co-captain and his family. The other outcomes of the win are pretty good too!

Some of the younger players really stood up today:

Gazza - apart from his sensational running goal, I loved his handpass smother and steal in a pack of three Cats which led to a goal from Reid.

AJ - looked like he was going to have a torrid time against the Pod or Hawkins. But played his role and took a critical mark in the hole at CHB just as Geelong were pressing in the last quarter. He kicked it forward and McGlynn handpassed over the top for Parker's second goal.

Parker - sensational - 16 disposals, 8 contested, 2 clearances. Great second and third efforts and never out of the contest.

White - kept Scarlett quiet and threw his body around.

Smith - we know how valuable he is but after smothering Milne last week he kept Stevie J to one goal today. One of the best stoppers around surely.
