After all, many doubted Rhys Shaw, and many lauded the arrival of Paul Chambers.Comment

He is such a 'bloke' isn't he. Accent almost easier to understand than Tadgh - who has had a lot more practice! - it is going to be really interesting to watch this one. Still think he looks like the older brother of Luke P.
Sixties group - Dave Dee Dozy Beaky Mitch and Tic. That the one you mean?If you've never jumped from one couch to the other to save yourself from lava then you didn't have a childhoodComment

Although I didn't find him easier to understand than Tadgh..I think his accent is a bit fresher than T's.Comment

Another Irishman on the loose, the bonus is he was born in Sydney - it would be a homecoming of sorts.

But rob, imagine the opportunities for Irish Corner. Setanta could coach the contestants in the hurling component of the contest.Comment

They didn't change, which makes our live picks 43 and 61 (with Mitchell at 21, and our next pick not until the 90s).
On the topic of the draft and list management, with Bolton, Bradshaw, Kennelly, LJ and more likely than not Sumner off the list, and Armstrong, Walsh, Morton and Mitchell on, that requires another space to be made. That can be done easily enough by moving another veteran to the outside of the list (we only opted for one outside the list last season). Furthermore, Gordon is likely to be upgraded you'd think, meaning that one of Bevan and Currie will probably end up being delisted. Moore and Meredith would also be in the firing line, but they are apparently contracted until next year.
Come to think of it, Sumner could be contracted next year as well, since we signed all the other draftees from that draft for three years, as far as I'm aware.... Perhaps he'll stay on the list after all! Has there been any official word?
Anyway, our list is likely to end up looking like this:
Armstrong
Bird
Bolton
TDL
Everitt
Goodes
Gordon
Grundy
Hanners
Heath
Jack
Jetta
Johnson
Kennedy
Lamb
Malceski
Mattner
McGlynn
McVeigh
Meredith
Moore
Morton
Mitchell
Mumford
ROK
Parker
Pyke
Reid
Richards
LRT
Rohan
Seaby
Shaw
Smith
Spangher
Walsh
White
Pick 43
Pick 61
Bevan/Currie
It was viable that Bevan, Moore and Seaby all could be traded. They weren't. With such low draft picks available, I think the club must work with their experienced players. Bevan and Moore in particular know they are under the pump. Perhaps the staying on the list 2012 might lift their games. It is also good to have experienced depth, (subject to salary cap issues).Comment

I liked Nason. Probably his hair when he had it. Bit of a Clinton King type. I'd say there will be a few that will make other lists before the 2012 seasons starts. In memory of my little Staffy - Dicey, 17.06.2005 to 1.12.2011- I'll miss you mate.Comment

Nope - what exactly could they offer us? Neither would make our first 22, both done at AFL levelComment

If we are going to draft mature age players they would need to be significantly better than what we have already. Our picks should be used for kids this year IMO.Comment
