    My sentiments exactly Al.
I went on holidays for two weeks and before I left, this site was buzzing with anticipation. I come back during the week, when we sit on top of the ladder after a 10 goal victory and it's all doom and gloom!

Chill people, our season starts this Saturday, let's at least wait for us to actually have one competitive game before we jump off cliffs!

I agree with you. Bolts last year came back and wasn't his usual self. Hannas came back without enough match practice. ROK and Shaw need a game in the Resies to get match fit. You can't have two players in your team running out of puff at three quarter time.

Predicting a defeat to Fremantle is a Round 2 game at the SCG is not necessarily pointing to a complete absence of confidence for Season 2012 for the Sydney Swans. Afterall, go back 16 years almost to day, (7th April 1996). Round 2 v. Fremantle at the SCG. The Swans lost to the Dockers by 29 points. And my point: 1996 turned out to be not a particular bad year for Sydney- Minor Premiers (for the first time in 60 years), and Grand Finalists (for the first time in 51 years).

Don't think it's so much a comment about possible defeat on Saturday, it's the overall tone of the site now as opposed to about eighteen days ago when it was so bouyant and full of hope around here.
Reading some of the threads on this site after being off it for a while, you would think we are more chance of winning the spoon then making the eight!

You betcha, collectively the site suffers from a bipolar disability.

However I recently took a look at bigfooty and frankly RWO is a better sit than that even on our worst days. Endemic trolling and personal comments. For every drip that replies to a thread without reading it's comment on RWO there seems to have 50 on Bigfooty.

In fact so marked was the difference that I coughed up a little brass to keep RWO going, I hope others will too.

And now back to the Freo game: I'm just glad Ballantyne and Moribito aren't playing

ahhh but back then we had visions of Armstrong streaming out from half back pinpointing lightening passes to Mitchell in the centre who would then spot up Walsh on a strong lead then a clever hand pass to Morton for a sensational snap.
BUT then reality hit in. It may well yet happen, who knows?

There are a lot or reasons for our pre-match anxiety. Just to name a few:
                1. We didn't come close to beating GWS by the much predicted 100 points.
                2. The forward line looked more dysfunctional than at the end of last season.
                3. Jesse started the season in the reserves.
                4. Spangher looks like he's having a 4 month hammy injury.
                5. Walsh and Morton have not lived up to expectations.
                6. Hanners had a slow start to the season.
                7. ROK and Shaw were injured.
                8. Still waiting to see what Armstrong can do.
                9. Teams above us last season like WCE and Carlton has good starts to the season and look to have a lot of depth.
                10. Freo and Adelaide are looking like challenging for a top 8 spot.
                11. Every team, bar perhaps Melbourne, put in a good effort over the weekend.

Until we play Freo we won't know if we have improved enough, or at all for that matter, to challenge for a top 4 spot. There was so much talk about how good the quality of the play was in round one that we have to wonder if we are up to it this year.

No need to panic, but lots of reasons for anxiety.

I see the glass half full:

                    1. Adam Goodes is defying his age and is still one of the biggest match-up headaches for opposition teams
                    2. Bird has had a sensational start to 2012 and is injury free
                    3. Jetta has kicked the 2nd year blues and is a more mature player
                    4. Reid is looking more imposing and is fantastic in the air
                    5. Ted is a mature rock in defence
                    6. Luke Parker quickly went from a boy to a man thanks to playing on after McDonald's hit
                    7. Big Mummy is fit and scary to look at
                    8. Jude just keeps on keeping on and is a shining light for the younger brigade
                    9. AJ has started his second year where his fantastic first year left off
                    10. We are on top of the ladder, we are the undisputed #1 AFL team in Sydney and we don't have any grubs like Ballantyne on our list.

                    I love footy!

                        Great kid.

Neil Cordy said Parker as well as ROK and Shaw trained well today. It's going to be a very interesting team sheet.

Warren is a very nice bloke, who has had to watch his boy charge head first into everything. Trust him to make sure he was happy with what Luke SAID about being ok. I don't know whether to fall about laughing or hold my head and moan.

If Parker plays, it wouldn't surprise to see him as the sub.
