    James McDonalds Hit

I hate how all the media are commending such a senseless act, if Jude Bolton had of done what McDonald did too Parker on a player such as Coniglio or any of the other stars he would be burned by the media.

Anyway, that is my rant just watched another afl show on fox sports be happy about it. Spud said it wasn't good enough the rest of them thought it was a good hit and ridiculed him for thinking it was a bad bump.

It wasn't as bad as some people are making out. It certainly wasn't a pre-meditated hit a la Yeates on Brereton. the The problem for Junior was that the handball to Parker was a shocker and missed its intended target by a fair distance and when McDonald realised this it was too late for him to pull out so he tucked in his shoulder and braced for the collision. Having had a look on the replay a fair few times he's in trouble because his shoulder cleans up Parker on the jaw and the MRP have set the tone by suspending players who have bumped and the opposing player's head has taken the impact, even if the bump was deemed fair (as it was on the night when no free kick was awarded to the Swans)

From the live (at speed) vision it was impossible to tell whether there was any head high contact. But the still picture accompanying the HS article doesn't look good for McDonald. It is hard to see how there couldn't have been contact to Parker's head from that picture, and the fact that McDonald's feet were off the ground won't help his cause.

From my perspective originally he was going for the ball but when the ball went past him, and he couldn't stop instead of bracing himself for impact he tried to do as much damage as he could to parker. But that is just my opinion, it looked disgusting and you have to admit if the shoe was on the opposite foot the swans player would get blasted for it.

It was a dog act, he ran pat the footy t take out a guy who only had eyes for the ball, Parker had 9 possessions first quarter and subbed off in the first quarter. He should get 6 - 8. But won't

Definitely hit him in the jaw - I had my glasses trained on Luke as he held his face (we know the kid is tough, he is no play actor, he would rather be out in the thick of it), and on the doctor on the bench who was doing concussion checks, you don't need that if you are hit in the shoulder. Gawn.

I thought it was a dog act as well.

I was blowing up deluxe as soon as Luke Parker went down.

Had that been any other team except for GW$, it would've been a free kick to us.

I didn't think it was a dog act, but it was a high hit. He should be gone for a few weeks at least.

It was a hard hit, I don't think he initially ran at him to clean him up at all but that picture with high collision, feet off ground and ball past him doesn't look good.

I can't recall James McDonald ever cleaning up someone before, I'd be shocked if he had any carry over points (obviously didn't play last year). I expect it will be 2 weeks (the still makes it look more like 4 than the footage does).
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

The fact he made contact with the head could go against him.
Would not like to see him get suspended for that.

Knowing it was against us, he'll probably get off.

I'm still filthy Zac Dawson got off for his shot on Tadhg Kennelly a couple of seasons ago.

Good hit but high so McDonald will go for a couple.

If the ball is within 5 metres and you keep the bump away from the head there should be no issues. We're not playing Chess here.

The Zac Dawson hit on Tadhg a couple of seasons ago trigger any bells?

I thought that was an illegal hit and he got off for it.

Not to mention the umpires totally disregarding anything they did on Saturday night.

The free kick count was about 3:1 in the Giants favour.

                              The Giants weren't that angelic.
