James McDonalds Hit

GREATER Western Sydney veteran James McDonald today will come under scrutiny from the Match Review Panel he was a member of just six months ago.
In an unprecedented scenario, McDonald - who quit the panel at the end of the season to join the Giants playing and coaching staff - will be the first player of the season to be scrutinised, after his hit on Sydney's Luke Parker at ANZ Stadium on Saturday night.Comment

I would have thought the most he could get for it would be only one game as follows:
Conduct - Negligent = 1 Activation Point
Impact - High Impact = 3 Acitivation Points
Contact - High = 2 Actiivation Points
Which make its a Level 3 Offence and 325 demerit points. Then deduct 25% for good behaviour and a further 25% for early guildty plea gives you 182 demeit points and a one game suspension.
If the MRP find that the contact was accidental/incidental then there is no penatly notwithstanding the high impact and high contact.Comment

All sounds reasonable, except the possibility it could be deemed "accidental/ incidental".....no chance, unless he reinstates himself onto the panel.
It seems pretty simple to me....He caught him high, so he'll do some time.Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MTComment

That physicality is why a lot of ex american football players and some afl players sue the league for not protecting them properly a head high bump to the face should not be accepted, that hit had more force then mumfords tackles.Comment

The Zac Dawson hit on Tadhg a couple of seasons ago trigger any bells?
I thought that was an illegal hit and he got off for it.
Not to mention the umpires totally disregarding anything they did on Saturday night.
The free kick count was about 3:1 in the Giants favour.
The Giants weren't that angelic.
What was consistent on Saturday night was the blatant favouritism of the umpires to GWS - I don't think they were told to do it but with all the press predicting a thrashing, the probably were subconsciously trying to help in averting something that wouldn't have been a good look for the AFL.Comment

Not much in it. He'll go because he probably caught a bit of Parker's head but it's a physical game. Certainly not a dog act.Bloods

Lord Roberts-Thompson. He may look like the Munster, but looks can be deceiving.

Can we stop this Sydney is picked on and hard done by crap. I didn't see a lot of outrage when Goodes was going around belting people and getting off or complaints when Bazza punched Maguire in the guts and got off. Fact is all clubs have been on the receiving end if strange decisions by the MRP because consistency is something they have yet to achieve.
Also the AFL view Sydney as a vital market place for them and the Swans are an Intergral part of that strategy so why on earth would the AFL or Demetriou be out to get us...And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

except that he hit parker who is a swan and in my dream team it was a bloody good bump, not bad for an old fart.
Guess he has to get weeks though, but i like a bit of aggression out there.Theres not much left to sayComment

Guess Junior's timing was off, he is not a dirty player, and he has b een out of the game for a while so wouldn't be surprised if he just got it "wrong". Two weeks for negligent is my estimate - it was a shame the umps were also in practice mode on the night - trust that Luke is ok. Of course, if there was no high impact, there is no case to answer at all.Comment
