You should consider enjoying the game from the comfort of your own home!!!!!! That way there are no kids but your own to have annoy you, and you can have the game as loud or as quiet or uninvolved as you wish!

In general I've found crowds at games to be rather courteous, people shuffle sideways for you when you have to grab a round of beverages, don't push in at the bar, and the kids are usually right up the front just enjoying the spectacle. Even with the Collingwood fans at ANZ last year, it was quite a good environment.

The fact of the matter is that these clappers aren't going away as long as citibank is a sponsor. It is outside of your influence so you may as well deal with it and move on

    Think thats fair.

I don't mind them when a goal is kicked or a player does a 1% or takes a speccie.

My Nan sits in the Cheer squad at many Melbourne games . She has supported The swans for most of her 80 odd years. Nothing wrong with people In the cheer squad, just unashamedly passionate about "supporting" their team.

Some SCG "customer service" sphincter once actually suggested that Wooden Ratchet Noise Makers (the sort which echoes so evry satisfactorily around an empty SCG during the early part of the reserves games I attend) weren't allowed. When I read the thread I thought someone else was having a go.

Frankly the cardboard marketing clappers tend to get drowned out near us :-)

They are deplorable, they ruin the sound coverage of the crowd and what not on tv. Thankfully we don't get them down here.

I'm so happy to see so many other supporters despite those clappers as much as I do. They defeat the purpose of proper vocal support. Often when chants go up, people don't even bother singing along with the chant and instead mindlessly beat those stupid clappers. It is just embarrassing.

I've hated them for as long as they've been present at our games. They need to go.

Well don't go to a Collingwood game at the MCG.
When they are winning it's incredibly noisy from all over the ground. Sounds awesome (except for the collingwood bit).
