Is this guy for real? No clappers? Indeed.

I love the clappers ... not that I really need them (if you've sat with me, you'll understand).
I do love making noise with them on the train ride home.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

Which train line do you live on Annie - just so I know what to avoid after a match??

I try to restrict the use of those stupid clappers by the kids I sit with, but it doesn't work and they still manage to annoy me. Could be because they are 43, 41 and 33 I guess...

Are you one of these people who annoy and then when told to shut up because of a lack of respect for others you then call the person a negative nelly with no sense of fun?

if you were on my train with those things i would not hesitate at all in grabbing them before we arrive at a station and chucking them out onto the tracks. If you want to grab them..be my guest.

No matter where I sit, this always happens! At least two or three little monsters spending the entire game whacking the sides of chairs, backs of chairs, each other, all through the game. I want to set those clappers on fire.

... actually, that'd be a brilliant sight, wouldn't it? The SCG glowing happily with bank-supplied fiery torches as we cheer on the Swans and menace opposing teams like castle-storming peasants in a Frankenstein film ...

In all the 15 years I've sat in the same seat; no one has ever told me off for being too loud.
I'd LURV to see someone try - they'll certainly cop an earful back.

How else can you clap if you've got a drink in one hand? I don't mind the clappers. I always had a bruised left thigh after a game.

There are bigger problems in the world, guys.

Clappers are awesome. Unrestricted kids making noise, using the clappers, breaking out the Swans song while we're losing, all awesome.

I've never heard the players complain about noise from the crowd and I figure that's all that counts.

I don't use them personally, and they are a marketing tool, but kids having fun and making noise is hardly the worst thing in the world. Lighten up people, it's footy, it's fun, let the kids enjoy it.

I've used them occassionally. I didn't use to, but that last SCG game I went to I used one at appropriate moments. I get tempted when there isn't much atmosphere and I love it when people make a bit of noise.

Given the comments here, I will now revisit my policy on clapper usage!

Incidentally, loved the person behind me at the GWS game who was heaping scorn on Jetta every time he made a mistake - "Might as well be playing for GWS - you're wearing the right colour boots, Jetta", "We'll give him to you for nothing!". Funnily enough he went a lot quieter after he kicked a couple of goals At least he cares enough to follow the game and know the players.

And whats meant for kids is usually filled with umm adults with umm special needs.
I find this post incredibly offensive and I'm not even in the cheer squad.
The cheer squads of all teams work very hard at what they do and I think it extremely rude of you to make these sorts of comments and judgements.

On the first paragraph - no, I think that's me.

On the second paragraph - can I please be around to see you when you try that with Annie?

All excellent points. On the last one, the day Goodesy asks us all to quieten down, I promise to give the idea due consideration.

I am entitled to my space not being polluted by this hideous sound. Nor do i have to sit and have my experienced ruined by kids who have no interest in the game and just want to hit those things.

                            Think thats fair.

I don't mind them when a goal is kicked or a player does a 1% or takes a speccie.

Oh well that's your opinion and you're entitled to it. But you will find a lot of people will agree with me, though they won't admit it from fear of upsetting someone, like you.

I'd much rather sit next to someone with the clap, than the clappers.
