Happy overall but we were sloppy in patches and a few guys are doing pre season training in these early matches.
Encouraging part is the younger players doing the hard yards, some of the vets are quiet.
We got a poor run with the umps til the last quarterTheres not much left to sayComment

I missed Goodes getting reported for sliding in? How bad was it? I'm guessing because he has carry-over points, if it's bad he's a goner.
Best game Parker's played for us and loved those three goals by Jetta. Trying to wipe that 3rd quarter away from my memory. Terrible.Comment

Have to be happy with hanneberry today i would of thought, especially after his early games.
Malceski kicked it so sweetly straight to port a lot
Shaw was trying to bugger around too much.
We should of buried them in the first half, we dont get enough reward on the scoreboard for our efforts. But we are on the right trackTheres not much left to sayComment

After watching that game, I've realised that the swans game plan is based on long-distance running. Just like a marathon runner can't go at top speed the whole race, the swans have realised they need to pace themselves. So the strategy is to play very hard the first two quarters, then everyone take it easy in the third and start of the fourth and the come home strong for the finish! Makes perfect sense.
Seriously though, I'm pretty pleased. I never thought this game would be easy and I thought we were more or less in control throughout the game, even when they came back at us. I love the way Reid worked himself back into the game in the second half. Hanners is picking up form and fitness and Parker was great. I was blown away when the commentators reminded me in the pre-game that he is only 19 - he plays like a much older player. Of course, given the way I pumped up Malceski's skills in another thread he had to go and have about 3 clangers in a row. Should have kept my big mouth shut!
Jesse was ok, but I'm starting to get worried when I see him in defence. Glad to see Everitt doing ok as well. I wish that Rohan could have done a bit more, but I'm willing to give him time. And Jetta is starting to show why he was touted as a possible top-10 draft pick.
I would be very surprised if Goodes is charged. Contact was to the body and the chance of Surjan being injured as a result of the contact was very low. Worst case, it will be a level 1 offence - 125 points + loading (possibly 10% - can't remember how many weeks Goodes has been suspended in last ) + carry-over points would result in one week ban.
I think Jack will be ok as well.Comment

Really pleased with Hannas and Parker today. JPK was great again, and Jetta and Jesse did some good things up forward. Both ROK and Mummy finished well after starting slow, and Marty Mattner had a really telling spoil in the last quarter which pretty much snuffed out Port's last chance. I thought our teamwork was pretty good most of the day and I'm impressed with how we finished after a worrying, tired looking third quarter.
I also liked the commentator's suggestion that we could replace Collingwood in the top 4 - how sweet would that be!?!?!Comment

How many games is it going to take for the experienced players returning from injury to hit match fitness? I think it is a mistake to drop them straight into the team. Not good for them as they are slow and behind the pace all day and not good for the team. Champion teams don't have passengers and we need to be very aware of that. No matter how much we love our fav players sometimes it is kinder to them and better for the team to bring them back through the resies.Comment

Pro's:
- Jetta, he is my new favourite player, love watching him play
- Rohan's chasing and pressure (special mention also to Marty)
- JK is an absolute gun
- Hanners, Jack, Parker, Mummy are making our midfield very good
Con's:
- Johnson was ordinary. LRT is miles ahead as a defender (ducks as the RWO Johnson lovers blow up).
- McVeigh was quiet again
- Our forward line needs serious work
- Jessie is a good footballer but needs to take out the stupidity such as head high tackles.Comment

I think Aj is clearly a better defender. And that's even from the perspective that lrt is an experienced player and aj in his second season.
On the other hand aj is a bit loose by foot and panics with the ball in the way lrt used to but does not any longer

White and Hawkins had the same problem a couple of years back - they drop too many marks! Hopefully White can come good in the same way Hawkins has - that would be fantastic. I don't mind the free he gave away for the high tackle so much, but the 50-metre for kicking the ball away was stupid, stupid, stupid! Adam and Jesse - my car will be available for washing and cleaning from Monday as punishment. Contact me for details.Comment
