People know I've railed against overt negativity on RWO but I completely understand it in match day threads. Emotion is high and the posts reflect that. I don't post in match day threads because like Jono, I'm usually too busy scaring the neighbours. I am not a good watcher of the Swans on Tele. Much prefer to be there.

I tried doing the ironing once last year to help ease the nerves. It was the Melbourne match at the MCG - my ironing board still bears the scars and it hasn't forgiven me yet....

Just saw the second half on replay and while it doesn't qualify as one of our great wins, compared to the same fixture at home last year - which is I think the only time I've walked out of a victory early in disgust - it was heavenly.

Yep, we've got a long way to go to match the big boys, but we've been able to get Dan, ROK and Shaw match fit and more quality time into Jetta, Rohan, Parker etc and still be 3-0 - not too bad I reckon.

Would be good to see us go up a notch or two in the next few weeks tho, especially something that vaguely resembled forward structure!

I thought we did really well considering Reid was quiet, Goodes other thaqn the odd cameo really seems out of sorts at the moment, just cant my finger on it with him at the moment..

Have to say Jetta is having an outstanding year, parker gone to another level, Hannes slghtly off (was his pre-seaon interupted?), Marty Matt again he seems off the pace...would like to some yngr guys in there this week...
Harry, how is lamb coming along in the Ressies? and Mitchell when do we think he will make his debut
I am confused regarding your comment about Hanners. Are saying he was slightly off yesterday or the previous 2 weeks? Yesterday he had 36 touches and was one of the best players. In relation to Marty Matt I thought he did an admirable job and I admire his chasing and spoiling. By the way which younger players would you like to see in there? I tried to watch the reserves yesterday (via the live streaming on the internet which I gave up watching in frustration, due to the terrible streaming) and to be honest no younger players caught my eye for promotion.

I have often said that you can iron while watching any other game, but you cannot iron while watching AFL.

Odd game. Bits of fantastic, bits of deargawdin'even. Game 'plan' a bit of a mess. Friend of mine said Hanners was a passenger until the stat of 36 touches came up, and we fell about laughing at ourselves. You have to actually be at the game to really get whats going on. I am fairly sure that we didn't see much of Shaw as he was doing his job on the day. However I have a major Waththa! re NicMal. Who did he think he was bombing to in the forward sector? There wasn't anyone there! And why wasn't there anyone there! I am going to have to watch this one again to see what on earth was happening.

                      And so to next week.

Just watched the Hawks demolish Crows and earlier Eagles kill GWS but I thought GWS were better this week. North gave Cats a bath so beware, the battle of the Scott's this time to Brad. We will have to step up a notch next week and we are experiencing injuries already. We were just going through the motions against Port and it showed. I think our fitness is a little down but that isn't so bad just as long as it gets better as the year goes on.

we controlled the game way more then Port did

Port has momentum at the moment and some dangerous match ups and we didnt give them an inch - in fact their coaching dept had no answer !

there was several indvs getting used to our change in game plan and it is working bit by bit - that is indv roles different from last year and the game plan in total

I can see why Johnny didnt give our game plan away in the NAB Cup - he basically only showed them how we would play in the 4th qtr and just a splash of the over the top of the press with the small forward running on - we have practiced in the NAB and game against GWS to kick it long to stacked tall forwards and try and play the game in our half - ie a large part of our game plan / field position we will employ against top teams and it worked.........we then employed fast break over the press defence with small forwards against Freeo and Port and it worked.

even yesterday we started with Bird at FF in the first qtr and it worked

there are some frustrating points in the game but imagine how Port fans felt.......they could NOT get momentum, we strangled the game with our very very impressive forward press and we broke free over their forward press which they could do to us basically at all !

massive massive massive positives for me

Longmire and his team - game plan is sensational right now and we appear to be able to execute it in defence and attack and flicking between both styles used in attack and both styles used in defence

Parker and Hannes - played quite loose and killed it....our older lads manning up more.......it is the change of the guard that we knew was coming

Jetts - plse play all rounds this season

Rohan - tough tough role he has right now but watch him shine as his pressure and leads were good enough for me for now

                          JPK - brilliant !

Shaw, Mal, ROK, White, Goodes, Benny Mcg - will go from strength to strength the next 4 to 6 weeks

my worry still is our forward press and midfield pressure still making our backs look OK ?

The Roos won comfortably but it was hardly a bath.
The Cats beat themselves with simply shocking kicking. Check the amount of shots each.

Cats were well beaten regardless of the amount of scoring shots they had. The Roos were on top from start to finish and never looked like losing. They were dominated, if not bathed.

watching this again, my only genuine concern is Reid. Not that he didnt do much, but that he looked like he was carrying an injury. I know he is a key player but I do not want to see him run into the ground if he is not fit.
