I would have no problem with TDL being brought it. He is much stronger, and has a much wider "range" than just the first 30 mtrs from the goal square, and he has b een doing some pretty smart tackling - both his and Jetts tackle style is much more Kizza's style than it was last year. Grab around middle, bury head into back and use weight and momentum to pull victim down and off balance.

Not so much a Soft player now Nico. Wouldn't have a problem him playing if the powers that be think he can.

I'm looking forward to Armstrong making his debut in red and white, but I seriously worry about him and Malceski in the same backline.

I'm tipping some 'healthy debate' on RWO when the time comes...

ROK has had three games off and had a light pre-season as he had a couple of niggles as well. Didn't play in the Intra. Got injured in the NAB and is still in recovery and not match fit.
Earlier in this thread you said Armstrong had played 4 games, now it's 3 ?
You said you were at one earlier game where he played... Which according to the Swans, and others on here who were there, he didn't play in...?? Was he in an invisible suit?
But regardless of how many games he's played, 2 or 3, he's had NO preseason. He's had 2 or 3 years at Adelaide, and played in only a handful of games.
From what I've heard he's got excellent skills by foot, he is poor defensively, and needs to get fitter! That's from people in Adelaide who have watched him over the last 2 or 3 years.
As for ROK, he's one of our better, most experienced players, he did pre season then missed the NAB cup games. He's had 2 games back now and should be cherry ripe.
I'd like to see the Burmese Kitten come in for Goodes, to give us a goal kicking forward....but...
To suggest we drop Shaw and ROK, for Armstrong and the Burmese Kitten, is ridiculous.

Moore is too slow, the wet will only make him slower, and as you mentoned he deosnt get enough of the balls in the 1's.
Moore wouldnt be a bad choice. Of course the wet will make him slower but it is more likely to take more of an edge of the faster guys and even up the difference. I seem to remember him playing okay in a wet game at the scg last year (cant remember against whom) where he took a screamer of a mark on the wing.

If he has worked on his pace and fitness over the off season as reported then surely he needs to be given a chance. A bit tough to expect him to come in and get twenty possessions (and lets face it TDL, Cunningham or others suggested would unlikely get more than about ten possessions ) but if he can take a small forward role , create some pressure and kick two goals then he has probably more than achieved what you should expect. In fairness Gordon could probably do same role and has been preferred in recent times when this type of role becomes available.

Im a little mystified why people keep throwing up Morton. He did little in the preseason games to inspire any confidence, he hasnt really received any good reviews from any reserve watchers and he didnt exactly set the world on fire at Richmond other than the odd flash of brilliance. I see how some poeple expect him to be a Nick Davis type of player but he hasnt show anywear near the class or game breaking ability of Davis and his forward pressure looks likes Davis' in his worst years post 2006. He needs to earn a spot not be given one on the off chance he might all of a sudden turn it around.

As for Drey - at least he got eight or nine possessions in his short game time which is as good as Rohan got for the whole game. Hes still a kid growing into a gangly bodyand while he will never be the saviour he could improve. He will probably get a full game this week.

For me Out Goodes, McGlynn (if injured) In Moore or Gordon and Armstrong (as sub).

Any chance of Walsh for Goodes. Good form in reserves and can play role as third tall and cover for White when he goes into the ruck.

Carlton. I'd like to see him come in for Ben if he doesn't come up.

I have been a fan of both ROK and Shaw for many years, I repeat many years Ernie. They are old, over 30 and the body starts to take longer to recover the older you get. ROK must be in his last season and so too Bolts. You guys are living in the past. Armstrong is part of the future. ROK and Shaw are not. They are at the end of their careers both hitting the over the hill line. They won't be here for the next premiership get used to it. Bolts, Goodsie, ROK and Shaw won't be around for the next premiership or tilt for the Premiership unless it is this year or next.

I'd have to agree, there is a sense of a changing of the guards. Longmire frequently points out the number of list changes that have occurred recently, and also that there are less than a handful of players that played in the GFs of 05-06. It is great that there are ready replacements for the senior members. Don't get me wrong, ROK is a legend but his influence is waning. The young crew coming through are so exciting and we can only hope that they all learn from the senior players before they retire.

It'll be nice and easy at the selection table.

Shouldn't the team be picked on form and merit irrespective of age. If the team is tanking or out of final contention then by all means choose the young players so that they can be assessed and also gain experience.
