I'm onto my third glass of Bright Ale from the good folks of Little Creatures, I feel like I'm sort of zoning in on the solution but might have to move onto a fourth to get some clarity.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline

Those Little Creatures folks are good folks indeed. I find that, when approaching the bottom of the bottle of a good red, I begin to feel a lot better about the game. Mind you, after two bottles Jesse White seems like the answer to our forward line, too...

I like ol' Jess, but then again I'm either usually at the bottom of a couple of bottles of red or wishing I was- so any affection is probably misguided.

TDL has to start. As was said earlier he opens up our forward line. Stupid mistake by Horse to have him as sub.

FFS, midfielders are the best subs. Someone with fitness issues like Moore would be perfect.,

Id keep Walsh for another week. The ball never went in there. I'd also keep Pyke.

AJ is the tricky replacement problem. No one springs to mind immediately.

But the biggest change we need to make is to stop handpassing to someone under pressure.

Thanks for that. Will add. I planted stacks of Kale for juicing. Didn't think of the spinach or silverbeet. Trying some brussel sprouts and brocci's for the first time.

Oh, meant to be a Swans thread, Ummmm, young Sam to rest in the reserves.
Nothing like a good light bulb moment.

When you see the high intensity 4 quarter effort made by both teams in the Adelaide-Collingwood game, you see how far off the mark we are, especially when you consider that Collingwood won on the road with so many of its stars injured. It doesn't seem to matter who Collingwood put out on the paddock, everyone shows up to play. Longmire has to make a statement about these back to back horrendous Melbourne performances. The standard of effort has to change if we are to have any chance of moving up the ladder. I don't blame Longmire for these performances unless he doesn't take some action, even if it just to show that he means business. You can't just talk about 4 quarter efforts and consistency and then do nothing we it doesn't happen.

It probably won't make a difference how many changes we make as to the result of the next 2 matches. We will probably bounce back at home and redeem ourselves next week, and then take another Melbourne hammering against the Dons.

So lets try to accomplish something before the break. Longmire needs to make a statement that yesterday's performance won't do. Let's try a 2 ruckman combo and see how it works, with Seaby as the main ruck and Pyke as forward-ruck. Lake will kill whoever we put up as FF, so lets try a smaller and quicker forward line and spare Reid or Walsh (or both) another poor game.

              Changes:
Out: Johnson, Malceski, LRT, Walsh, Reid, Bird.
In: Armstrong, Morton, Seaby, Spangher, Moore, Nipper (sub). (Could give Mitchell or Merry a go as sub as well).

Sometimes you just need to do something different.
I like your style. These are the changes that need to be made, but sadly I don't think will be.

Moore might be worth a gamble up forward, though he has had plenty of chances. White or morton has to come in for Walsh. I think not much difference with Pkye or Seaby , both are not up to AFL standard. Armstrong will have to replace Johnson or maybe Heath Campbell? shaw and smith deserve to be dropped, but there is no one to replace them. Maybe Tom Mitchell may be a gamble for the sub job?

Need to stick with Smith - he is quality. Has been great for us. Maybe still recovering from the ear infection?

having been to the two games in Melb and been embarassed by weak performances. The changes I would make are as follows:
-the coach or at least the forward coach - we have been beaten both times in Melb by teams having a loose man in our fwd line who we seem to be able to pinpoint with accuracy. Let's get back to basics and keep people accountable when we are being soundly flogged. Too many times we come out of the backline and absolutely no one is ahead to kick to. No movement from fwds. It's like watching u10's play. Bring back Roosy
Reid - no confidence and can't mark or kick. Let him run around in the 2's and learn how to contest and grab the ball. Tell Jesse he has a game for the next mth and his job his to bash and crash packs and if he takes a grab that's a bonus
Walsh - no idea at this level yet. Bring in Spangher asap
Pike - beaten by a makeshift ruckman 20 cm shorter. No confidence in kicking the ball. Mummy can't come back quick enough. In his absence Seaby, bar the Richmond game he competes and puts in an honest performance
Malceski - for his one good disposal there are 10 ordinary ones. Has no sense of when he is under pressure. If Armstrong is as good a kick as is claimed get him in now
Johnston - will be injured but his disposal is shocking. Tries hard but needs to learn to be far more effective with his disposals- maybe the reserves watchers have a suggestion for a replacement. Maybe LRT can go back to his real role as a reliable defender
McVeigh - sad to say but lacking in leadership and not sure what his role is. Bring in Bulldog for leadership and football smarts

                    On notice Shaw
TDL must be given a chance to start and play as a leading fwd
I'll leave it to the experts for their comments

well the hobbits have been kicking a few goals how a bout a FWD line with
                          Moore McGlynn Bolton
                          Smith Reid Jack

Yes I know I included reid but he has been playing like he is 4ft 1 so he is in..

TDL is a specialist FWD one of the few we have why play him as a sub? what was the strategy behind this selection - if we are not kicking enough goals lets sub TDL in?
If TDL is named surely he has to start in the FWDs whats the point in selecting him ...Please Explain?
Morton has been kicking bags of goals what if he played in Senors Fwd line and kicked 2 or 3 he is in form and all our Fwds are out of form but probably not a good time to select him unless we want him to play as 2nd ruck or as a sub.

I think this is how our selection policy works you only get added to the current team if you are selected as 2nd ruck or starting sub all other positions are locked in.

                            Cheers

I have to admit it was the worse game I have ever seen Smith play. He even showed signs of being a wimp, and avoiding the hard contest. Has to be something not 100%. Maybe he has still got a ear infection. deserves another chance.

Sorry Crack there is no 'Heath Campbell' at our football club! I'm sure he is getting sick and tired of people getting this wrong it is 'CAMPBELL HEATH' better now! He can't come in because he is on the rookie list, he was demoted at the start of the year.
