The win today wasn't as unexpected as the 2003 game was. In '03 we were rank outsiders against a rampant Port and were up by 40 points for alot of the game and held on. This game is up there because of the fact Adelaide has been our bogey side for so long (along with Pies and Geelong) and especially at AAMI. So it was definately against the odds.

Adelaide couldn't match the intensity of finals footy and maybe our tough run home helped to harden the lads.

We were doing well in this area earlier in the year. Perhaps it's just the accumulated physical pressure of so many tough matches recently. Hope the week off will give the boys a chance to freshen up and execute a bit cleaner offensively, while still keeping that great defensive part of our game. Hope we play Collingwood next up. We just have to beat them to show that we've moved to the next level.
Kicking efficiency and handball accuracy is so important. Hawthorn and even Collingwood on their day will kill us for these sorts of clangers we had in the game.

I too would like to play Collingwood because that would prove our worthiness of playing off in the g/f and take us to the next level. This is the perfect stage to do it. I have attended 8 out of the 10 Colllingwood losses and am fed up of these pricks winning at ANZ!

AFL have released week 3/Preliminary finals fixtures

We play on the Friday night(21/09/12) at ANZ

Hawks play on the Saturday night(22/09/12) at MCG.

I'm really surprised about that, thought it would be the other way round!!!

The scheduling went this way due to conflicts with the NRL finals.

This is very favourable for us, since whoever we play in the PF will be coming off a 6 day break vs our 2 week break. And if we make the GF we will have and extra day rest as well.

The one bloke who did come good after a lean patch was Hanneberry - provided a lot of poise on the outside of the packs.

I haven't watched a replay yet or pored over the stats but it did seem like Hanners was much more in the game this week and he got plenty of the ball, especially in the first half. He's a very impressive player....

He would be absolutely Elite if he can work work work work WORK on his short kicking skills. Some of it was Diabolical.
Shaw was fantastic defensively but had a horror sequence of 3 straight mediocre skill errors when the Crows were pressing in the 3rd quarter (2 miskicks which didn't hit the mark and a horrendous handball over Jettas head when we had a chance to start an attacking foray).

Both need to clean up their skills badly.

                      Winners.
It says so in the paper.
(We got a look in... almost 3/4 of a double spread - they had to fit in the golf and motor sport news as well.)

He was the 4th highest possession getter for us. You must have fallen asleep for large parts of the game. How long ago was that Brisbane final? We didn't have a passenger today.
More stats: 74% efficiency (team 72%) 3 clangers, 2 tackles. 76% ground time. Not bad stats for 3 quarters of footy. Saw the replay this morning and he did have a patch where 3 disposals didn't hit the mark. A handball I think to Bolton went to the right place but bounced sideways and 2 kicks didn't hit players on the chest but they didn't hurt us. Had an OOB on the full in the last quarter. What stats don't show is his work in close; holding, smothering, blocking, holding the ball in and harrassing. Pretty good game I reckon.

Was a fantastic win after a pretty close game for thew majority of the match. ROK, Goodes, Richards, Shaw, Johnson, Kennedy, Morton were all sensational. Well and truly deserved the win.

Sick of the highlights though of Mumford taking a fantastic pack mark only for it to be paid to Walker. How one of the most basic rules of the game was forgotten left me shaking my head in disbelief, with a few well placed expletives.

Disagree. He was in front, kept contact with it at all times and they both came down gripping it. Man in front's mark every day of the week.

Yep. Hopefully they destroy each other.
