The price of the tickets (and probably the fact I wouldn't sit anywhere less than platinum) deterred quite a few when trying to weasle tickets out of me.
Like someone said somewhere else on here a few weeks ago.... charge $180 and get 10,000 people - charge $90 and get 20,000 people (or something like that).
Could fill that stadium up if they were smarter.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

Remember club membership is not as strong in the NRL so I would think that a hell of a lot more tickets to the NRL game will sell today and the rest of the week.
      I agree.

Can you believe there is a market on Sportsbet.com at the minute 'Who will get the biggest crowd?'

      Swans/Pies @ 1.75
      Dogs/Bunnies @ 2.05

WTF? That market is crazy the wrong way around. I've just thrown something on the NRL game now, because when all the walkups start buying the tickets to the NRL, it's sure to swing around.

Fair chance our game will stagnate for a while now, I'd imagine most of the members got their tickets yesterday and those planning on buying later may hold off to closer to the game for weather reasons or some such...

Unless it pours rain on Saturday night and we get perfect Friday night weather, then I think there is next to no chance that there will be a bigger crowd for the Swans game than the league game. $2.05 is very generous, and if I was a man that would bet on random stuff (i'm not), then it would be worth a pretty decent wager.

And thats mainly due to plenty of Wobble fans turning out.

The AFL at it's worst...out of touch and arrogant...

I've supported this club for over 30 years, I live in Sydney...And I'll be watching from the couch.
If you've really supported the club for that long, you'll be there on Friday.

Forget about the prelim. It's Jude's 300th, and everyone who's ever truly supported this club should go for that reason and no other.

All of us owe him a debt of gratitude for his unselfish service over the years.

The ticket prices are very annoying, but not enough for long-term supporters to refuse attending. It's our job to do all we can to help get the team across the line, especially this time.

Agreed. Ticket prices are real tax and I know some don't like Homebush but c'mon guys and gals the boys need us all there and Jude deserves a full house for all of the times he has put his head over the ball for us.

All you chardy drinking NARF's and bandwagoners stay at home.
              It's all about you.
The club doesn't need to make any money from your bum on a seat.

Nrl wont get anywhere near 70k, let alone 80k. What have you guys been smoking?. The highest prelim nrl crowd is around 60k. Thats massive for them. They will also be many waiting for the grand final... Which u can still buy tickets for!!!

There's a lot of press about a big NRL crowd on Saturday. Two very popular teams, who've come good and are playing attractive footy. Some huge stars like Inglis and Barba. Souths especially will have a huge number of bandwagoners jumping back on after years in the wilderness. Affordable tickets and a sense of an event - all points towards a big crowd - I still reckon 70k+ for them. This is still a league town after all.....

We need all the bandwagoners, chardy drinkers, interested onlookers etc that we can get out there on Friday night. I hope they come despite the ticket prices.

According to the RWO 2006 PF thread, the AFL sold over 30,000 on the first day to Swans members only. We had 61,373 in attendance that night.

In 2006 they sold tickets before our opponent was decided so yes, at 21,000 sold including Collingwood members (that traditionally travel in great numbers) they are going to be very worrried about the crowd come Friday night.

9pm start and $100 has made it difficult to drum up someone, anyone to go with.

As such I'm still on the fence here.

NRL game is looking strangle attractive. *checks temperature* OK - I'm not sick. Might just be the better night and the sensible ticket prices.

Somebody on Swans central who clearly bought the tickets this morning has a PAX of 36465.

This will be , what, our third home PF in 15 years? The Lions one in 2003 was a ripper until we fell off in the final quarter, the Freo in 2006 was a bit flat as I never thought we'd lose.

This one is huge. Imaging beating the Pies to win a spot in the GF! It'll be as big as the Bombers in 1996. There are a handful of games that we always reminisce about. This could be our next Cats semi in club legend status. I couldn't bear to say I missed it because $100 seemed like too much for a ticket. In fact, I still fret that I didn't pay $$$ to see the Saints PF in 2005 and the Port QF in 2003.

Of course, we may lose. But, with the week off over our opponents, there's never been a better time to get this particular monochrome monkey off our backs - and I'll be smiling for a week after being there to experience it. Of course, we may lose and it'll be another long trip home with jubilant opponents - but that might happen if we get to the GF, too - and we'll be in enemy territory for that one.

I hate to be the barer of bad news, but you're going to be right in amongst the Collingwood faithful - a couple of bays away from their cheersquad I believe. On a positive note, you'll be in the best position to enjoy their pain come the end of the night.

The Swans fans will mostly be in the northern end around 119.
