Yep, he hasn't stopped talking about it. I think the teachers might have some issues getting him to concentrate when he goes back to school.

What a game! It all started the sunday before when I rang my Melton based uncle and he was waving two tickets at me in no time. Arranged a few things here in Adelaide and made the 780 kilometre dash across to Melb. Wife & kids to mums and then a quick cappuccino at Parkers Road Cafe, then on the train at Parkdale where everyones colours were on display. Winks, smile and nods from many Bloods fans and found a seat opposite a South African Hawks supporter, (with the crowd on the train I new it was going to be a bumper attendance at the game), who was very nervous about their prospects of wining given the way they played in the prelim. He and his daughter departed at Richmond and continued on to Southern Cross and arrived at South Melb markets via tram.

Met up with uncle and proceeded to Cricket Club Hotel for a bit of pre-match discuss and postulation with anyone in red & white. Met some great people. After a steak and beer of to the ground via tram to Fed Square and then walk along path way to MCG. Crowd building substantially. Saw a woman wearing blood red, knee high boost and a hawthorn jacket and scarf; I asked her if she had family in both teams, given her choice of colours, to which, she replied no these are my favourite boost. I said that is a massive wardrobe malfunction and I new at that very instant we would win. My wife said Swans by 8 points that morning so I needed very little convincing. But this did it...I knew we were home.

Get to the seats and take it all in. The anthem, the first bounce, Buddy's goals, Pyke, Rok, Goodes, Jack, Jude, Shaw, Ted, Jet, Josh etc, etc. It is all a blur until.........SIREN.

I saw a couple with two kids leaving at the end of the match. Man and daughter wearing Hawks colours, woman plus son wearing the red and white. At least half the family were happy!

Some many highlights from the GF, I dont know where to start. Could not speak after the siren went. Only one regret, after St Kilda beats us in round 10, sportsbet were offering 26 dollars for a swans priemership. I was tempted to back the boys but became a chicken.

Four pics from my grand final day snaps with my little pocket camera - nothing special, but I will cherish my pics from the day forever, to go alongside the memories I will always have of that One Day in September!

A nice shot of a ruck contest in progress

Not the sure what setting I accidentally put the camera on, but liked how it turned out!

This could be a longish post...

Took my 5 yo son up to see the collingwood prelim the week before. We sat almost behind the goals at the end where Jetta scored. He fell asleep at half time which made the second half a bit hard to watch as i really couldn't move. But I was so pleased with how we played that i thought we were a genuine chance against the hawks were the game played anywhere other than the MCG. Even at the MCG i thought we might jag it if they were a bit off...

Received the ticket which was in the forward pocket - M29. Also got a separate ticket for my son in Q something but gave that one away to the girl who looks after our children who is a made hawkers fan. spent most of the week thinking about the game.

went to the GF parade and was pretty impressed at the amount of red and white that was in the city from pretty early on. gave me a bit of confidence about what the crowd might be like.
The kids and the aforementioned hawkers fan baked a dozen red and white cupcakes on friday so when i arrived home they were laid out in the following manner on the kitchen table...

Arrived at the ground a bit before 12 and went to listen to the coodabeens. They did the funniest joke i've heard in a while as part of the talk to torch segment (torch being a former swans player for those who dont know), regarding former players billy duckworth and chris lewis (well i thought so anyway)

went into the ground reasonably early - maybe 12.30. saw the gf sprint heats - which were interesting as there were about 10 swans on the ground just doing gentle kick to kick - and they all stopped and went over to watch harry cunningham in his heat.

still reasonably pessimistic about our chances - but increasingly starting to hope rather than before reconciling myself to a defeat - recent experiences at the mcg have not been terrific for the victorian chapter of the swans fan base.

Before the game danial talia and nic natanui were interviewed about the game and both tipped the swans - and patrick dangerfield had a long interview on the abc radio pre-game show where he also tipped us - by this stage i was starting to think if players who had recently played us were prepared to back us maybe i should as well. so now i started thinking we were a pretty good chance. my natural pessimism was being replaced by the experience.

The game itself everyone knows - other than that the umpiring was terribly one-sided - i think many of the decisions themselves werent too bad but (ie most of those 21 frees against the swans were there) it just strikes me that something is wrong when we have something like five HTB frees against when hawthorn lay 60-70 tackles while we get one where we land 110 ? Anyway it would be churlish to go on and on about it (but dont think i didnt on the day - i let stevic have it twice when he was heading towards the boundary about 10 metres from me).

post game - i rather liked the temper trap and paul kelly at the ground - i certainly preferred it to the hike over to punt road oval.

lakeside oval the next day was amazing - i couldnt believe the amount of red and white around the ground at 7.30 in the morning - happy week and month i suspect...
