    My short tale.

Friday - 4am wakeup call to get to the airport to catch the first Qantas plane to Melbourne. A few supporters in the red and white for the 6am flight - thumbs up all round. A bit of turbulence to Melbourne. On the Skybus was Kenny Williams, No. 1 supporter of the Swans who leads them in the team song after a victory. GF Parade in the wet next to Hungry Jacks on Swanston Street. The Swans look pretty relaxed. Chelsea Roffey gets a huge cheer and she's smiling.

We go to Waverley Park, to check out the Hawks Musuem and to go on the oval in our bright red swans gear. To our surprise the Hawks turn up and do a light training run only watched by about 40 Hawk supporters. We are accused of being spies. Must be the worst spies ever due to lack of disguise before visiting their excellent but small Hawks Museum. If you are wondering why the Hawks lost on Saturday - i jobbed Buddy and Hodgey in this photo!

Saturday - early Yum Cha in Chinatown. A few supporters of both sides are in the restaurant. Suggest giving the Hawks (Chicken) Feet to the Hawthorn fans. Then walk to the MCG following the crowds. End up in Bay M10 in the very last row. Behind us are all the Hawthorn standing room supporters. Breath in the atmosphere and watch the Superkick contest and enjoying Tim Rogers and Paul Kelly sing. As we are undercover it doesn't matter if it rains but jeez i wish there were more goals at the Punt Road end!

Laughed out loud when Buddy shanks it across the goals. In the second quarter, the Swanny fans shut up the Hawks by piling the goals. However in Q3, the momentum swings and the Hawks fans are in full-voice. I even applaud when Buddy marks, spins and kicks the goal from 60m out. Hoping that the Swans don't melt-down as usual.

Q4, Swannies are full of hope in this quarter but heart can't take it much further until Macieski kicks THAT goal, person who is sitting next to me is one of the field umpire's uncle and tells me that there is 34 seconds left. WE'RE HOME! When siren sounds, hugs to random Swanny supporters. We make our way to the boundary fence and watch the trophy presentation and lap of honour. This is greatness! We then get our tickets to go on the field and watch Temper Trap/Paul Kelly before the boys make their short appearance. Smiles all round - one of the best days of my life and probably yours too!

Just uploaded my vid of the MCG After-Party. Was lucky enough to be one of the 1000 allowed on the ground. Here is when the Victorious Players come on to the stage.

My last vid. Was fortunate enough to be up the front for the reception at Lakeside Oval.
Here is my vid of the players being presented/interviewed.

Change that exclamation mark to a question mark and you are spot on.

We were in Q54 and that's where we watched the cup and medal presentations. Went down to level 2 corporate area for the lap of honour, would've liked to have got down to ground level but were too slow.

However, we were fortunate to meet a very special player who had an enormously proud smile on his face. As the boys did their lap of honour, he sat alone and reflected and was so happy for the boys.

Some great pics, vids and memories in this thread. I had a huge adventure with many trials just to get to the game but, crazy weather aside, you knew it was going to be a special day with such a magnificent opening presentation.

We certainly didn't have the best seats in the house and you would have thought they'd have done a bit better for a club champion and Brownlow Medallist

An awesome spectacle, a triumph of spirit from the boys, a jubilant Swans crowd cheering down the thunder for what seemed like forever!

Something else; we fans were like a brotherhood in Melbourne the next couple of days as we acknowledged each other passing in the street with that deep sense of satisfaction in the win and knowing that we were there at the MCG to feel the uncontrollable joy. It was the same on the long train trip back to Sydney. Then walking home sore and exhausted in the early hours of the morning, dragging my broken-wheeled suitcase behind me and sporting my beer-stained Swans gear, to be sharply woken by the blare of car horns from fellow Swans supporters, flags flying from their vehicles ... it is unforgettable.

It was so weird, this year was my first Grand Final. Reading this forum, people would say stuff like "I remember Lockett's 1500th goal" and I thought "wow, they must have good memories". But after watching the game, I completely understand. Morton's 2 goals, Jetta's running dash and Malceski's two goals are seared in my mind. 34 seconds to go! 34 seconds to go! I feel like I am still there.

You'll forget some of the game over time, but some things will stick!!

Then you can say "I remember when ..."

Maybe you should have worn your delightful mustard brown Brownlow tux you'd have been given a better seat on the spot !! still the view up on level 4 is still a good one - the photo of the anthem ceremony is terrific!!!
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

It's those moments that stay with you forever. I still remember vividly kicking the winning goal in my u/9's Grand Final 34 years ago. So while I can't remember less important things like Birthdays and leaving the seat down I can recall football moments as though it was yesterday.
