I really hope we don't pick him up now. Bad enough to be paying him overs, worse to be doing it when he'll miss half of next season when we'll be pushing hard for a premiership.

Thankfully the coaches look further ahead than some supporters. They are setting up the club for not just 2013 but 2014,2015 etc and getting a quality KP player who is only 25 works into that.

Remember folks if we do get him we managed to get him and still keep our first pick this year so in effect we have gained Tippett + Dean Towers so that sounds pretty good to me.

Can't wait to welcome KT to the Swans.

He's our first Kurt isn't he?
He's the archetypal player that the Swans have so much fun and success "Making over" : he's on the outer at his club AND he's a code-crosser. He's a man mountain too.
Adelaide are so beige it's going to be good to have a genuine rivalry ready-made to outshine the Swans/North one of the 90s.
We've been hanging out for a decent rival for a while now. Is it just me that can't take West Coast seriously? Our little brothers down the road are going to take some time before it gets really passionate (James McDonald had a good go tho').
When we are lucky enough to win another premiership it will be sweet to do it with Kurt and help all the ordinary sub-standard journos and sub-editors with some schmaltzy predicable stories seeing as New Limited et al have sacked all their journos.
He'll be able to do some media calls in front of the plastic backdrop outside Basil Sellars Cellar thanking Neil Craig for giving him a chance early on in his career and the Swans, and it's fans, for not blaming him for everything including global warming, the GFC and any other major disaster that might have befallen Crows fans directly or because Today Tonight and that crazy Michaelangelo Rucci told them so.
He also very nearly lead the Crows to a win in the Prelim against the Hawks and I'm going to enjoy him turning it red and white.

Fingers crossed Sheedy and Silvagni don't give me a reason to hate GWS.

Very true, we were looking at 1st pick & White, or picks 1 & 2 to get KT
Now we get him for cash. (if we get him)
            This is a massive gain.
What will White be worth next year, or the year after?

also, say the club have the cash for KT ready to go.
What would they be doing with it if we don't get him.
Spread it through the rest of the playing group?
            Save it up?

If the cash is there, spend it.

Our recruiters must really want Kurt badly. I am sure he was instructed by us to keep his mouth shut throughout this period, which he did. And also plead guilty and cop the penalty, because in the end these short term things didn't matter all that much. We want him for the finals and into the future. Going along with the AFL mockery of justice and not allowing anything to get in way of his transfer to us was the big picture strategy. Don't give anyone an opportunity to find an excuse why he can't come to the Swans.

We got Dean Towers and kept Jesse White in the process, due to the stupidity of others, namely the AFC and AFL.

We do things the smart way.

That's why we are a Great Team.

I never thought of that. Are all contracts and player payments for next season are finalized? If they are we will have about 1 million lying around. Are there any incentives to not using the full salary cap?

Astounding decision by Chapman and the board of the Adelaide Football Club that they have decided to completely back Trigg and Harper and they will get their jobs back at the end of their suspension. Only conclusion I can make is that the board was far more complicit in the deals with Tippett than has been revealed and that Trigg is in a position to reveal the dirt file on them if he did not get his job back. Most of the Adelaide supporters on Bigfooty are not happy to put it mildly. Happy that we are more fortunate with Colless, Ireland and Maxfield at Sydney.

Does anyone know if Tippett will be able to play football at any level while suspended. NEAFL, SFL or even a country team somewhere. Maybe even NZ. If he does not get a run somewhere his match fitness will be way down by the time the suspension is over.

Oh, I'm looking ahead. I'm looking ahead to a time when we have quality players out of contract and potentially no longer have a cost of living allowance and wonder whether Tippett will justify the dollars he is on and the resulting pressure on the salary cap.

That sort of proves my point. The coaches will be thinking about all these issues in coming years (throw in all the potential retirements as well) . They believe a class KP player who is only 25 will be worth the price they offered. The fact their track record in list management is second to none means I'll sleep soundly at night when thinking about this clubs future.

Has been stated on here several times, he is suspended, which means no football.

To put all the onus on the player, regarding their, sometimes complex, contract arrangements..... is ridiculous.

Surely the onus should be on the club administrators and player managers, who negotiate the deal, including any lawyers involved, to make sure everything is compliant with the rules....this is what these people are payed for.
Just because he is a professional footballer, doesn't make him a protected species, like say a KOALA, Ernie!

Seriously though, if you were in any sort of contract negotiation, regardless of your profession, but you are one of the leaders in your field, and you were purportedly getting "a deal of a lifetime", would you just "leave it to the lawyers" and have no interest in the nuts and bolts? ... and particularly if you had been striving since you were a boy to reach this pinnacle, and the average term of your "profession" was say 3-5 years, before you potentially were out of work and virtually unemployable ...???

I'm sorry, that is a very naive point of view!

But look, regardless of that, even if he knew exactly what he was doing, so what, it's not a hanging offence!... it's not like he was a lawyer who acted on behalf of her boyfriend to prepare legal documents that could only be used to enabled a fraud to be perpetrated, made a feeble attempt to cover it up, and then when caught, simply denied it ever happened, and branded anyone who dared question her a misogynist! ... sorry, I digress

... and if he knew, good on him, it doesn't mean he's not "bloods" material! He's been exposed, he's copped his penalty, and he should learn some valuable lessons (which I'm sure will be reinforced at the Swans!) ... anyway, I would rather have someone with that kind of initiative, who recognises what he is worth, at the Swans, than some dummy who can only play football!

btw, if he seriously has been shafted by his legal representative, and it has cost him in any way, he has legal remedies against them ... but there has been no mention of that!

So far as Sydney getting a player who can't play for 11 matches, I have no doubt that will impact on the contract negotiations anyway (probably mean a significant reduction in the "back end balloon payment", his mothers salary as an "Academy coach" and the contents of the "brown paper bag") ... so the Swans will not be disadvantaged financially, and they should have a fit KPP putting pressure on everyone in seniors before the run into the finals.
