It's actually a cracked rib, not broken, and he did get a knee in the back in a contested marking situation so hardly think that amounts to 'paper mache'. More like rotten luck, both for him and for the Swans as he looked really good in the highlights reel.

And if he is paper mache, then I suppose others who have suffered multiple injuries must be in the same category e.g. Goodes, Reid, Mumford (on GWS injury list right now), T Mitchell, Rhyce Shaw, Alex Johnson ........... Then again maybe AFL is a tough and highly physical game.

Actually, a crack is still a break (fracture) it's just considered a lower grade.

While not the only grading system, an example using CT scans is, the appearance of a fracture line (Grade 1), dislocation of the fractured rib by more than 1/2 the rib diameter (Grade 2), or the appearance of adjacent soft tissue edema (Grade 3).

That's the point I was making. It's low grade (from what the club has said).

And I tend to believe it is low grade because I saw Tippett walking around talking to players and shaking hands after the match. He was showing no signs of discomfort (although presumably he did have some pain given what we now know). I've seen someone immediately after a fairly serious broken rib and they were in too much discomfort to have been behaving like that.

Sorry to be pedantic, but your very first point was ...

True. Although if he was given moderately strong analgesics & compressive strapping (which would be the treatment of choice) it would have eased the discomfort significantly (ie to allow him to walk around, talk & shake hands).
But I suspect that it is as the club says. A minor un- or minimally displaced fracture that is of annoyance value. Hope so anyway

I have had cracked ribs and you can function quite well during the day time if you are careful and don't turn sideways suddenly. The killer is in bed at night when you roll over and wake up in terrible pain!Sleep deprivation is the worst side effect

broken Rib can and do take some time to heal around 4 to 6 weeks.

There can be some Rib Complications that may happen

The most common complication of broken ribs is not being able to take a deep breath because it hurts.
If you don't breathe deep enough, mucous and moisture can build up in the lungs and lead to an infection such as pneumonia.

Like all these things. ? let hope all goes well and maybe in around about 3 to 4 week tippo can be back to playing at his best.

Goodie and Reid are also looking like returning in the next few weeks so we have a few forwards returning and tippo can take his time to come back in to the side now.

maybe play it safe and bring tippo him back after the Geelong game now in around 3 to 4 week time.

This was the plain anyway to bring the three forwards back over the next month, it just now the order has changed a little.

best of luck to tippo and we all will wait on him returning to full fitness soon.

It's all lies from the Swans and Tippett!!

Tippett has sign another "second contract" which says he only plays half a year!!!!

The excuses are getting weaker and weaker.

As long as it the business end of the season no one care's here.

Every team in the league would love to bring in tippo for the second half each year all the other games are warm ups until the one that counts.

Yeah, just ask K Jack...Did anyone see him singing the team song...Left arm up to the side, wincing as he sang....

His rib is a long way from fixed.

Have there been any reports as to what activates Kurt's contract extension/option?
