Kurt has been "putting on some size and some strength"? The mind boggles.
Tip in top shape - sydneyswans.com.auHe reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)Comment

To be fair, the AFL have got contractual obligations to broadcasters and the like. So they need to ensure Essendon fields a team. Without cap concession there is no way Essendon would or could put out a team.Comment

Can you tell that I'm still pissed about that ?????Comment

I am not pissed at the stupidity of it (the trade sanctions) I am pissed at how corrupt it all feels and something else in our lives being dictated by corporates who invest. If Essendon wernt such a massive cash cow for the AFL they would have had massive fines and sanctions by now and possibly as a club died, but nope its the bombers and they need to protect their golden child while appearing on face value to be getting tough.
And then they do what they did to us without any kind of proper explanation.
Come on we have to put up with incompetence on all levels on a daily basis i dont expect men in suits to destroy a @@@@en football game.Comment

I wasn't happy that we bent over on the issue of trading sanctions, and told the chairman as much at the Redback function (poor bastard, I cornered him!!).
I told him that QCs should have been hired from day one, as we hadn't broken any rules. It would have given the impression that we meant "business" at the 15 December meeting (and if there's a problem in paying for one, let me know and I'll kick in).
I was told that the club "bent" on the trading issue with the AFL, because there are about 30 other "issues" that need to be sorted out with the AFL, and that having a good relationship meant that they might be better placed to have the other "issues" sorted out. (Yeah, I know, total pile of frog @@@@... sorry Frog.)
Allegedly, five QCs had offered their services to the club over this matter (for free) and they were turned back because if the club went "softly" on this one, it would make it easier to get the other "issues" sorted out.
Personally, I think it's a crock and all a bit cloak and dagger really.
I would have taken all five QCs up on their offers and taken them ALL to Melbourne.
The AFL would have @@@@ themselves (knowing that we hadn't broken any "rules") and allowed us to unrestricted trade.
On another note, I'm glad the Tipoff thread is still going.Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.Comment

No, actually. He didn't.
Unlike you, he's not that rude.
We talked for about 10 minutes; and he assured me that they're doing their best not to be railroaded by the AFL.Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
