It was yet another case of...Nearly a dominant game...For 1 quarter anyway.....

But alas no, it was just another 'pretty good game' from Tippo.

Will Tippo ever kick 6, against a quality opposition, to pull us across the line in a big game....I live in hope.
Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MT

With Buddy in the side, Tippett is now a forward/ruck. You can expect goals & hit outs from a forward/ruckman. & goals from Buddy. Between them we expect goals but both don't have to dominate. So long as on does, or they do between them. Or, if neither of them are, it's because 3 or 4 opposition back men are the focused on Kurt & Buddy's, freeing up another 1-2 avenues to goal for us. & Tippett should, with Pyke, at least give us the opportunity for majority use of the ball from hit outs. They mostly seem to so far (albeit that neither are dominant big men around the ground.
      He doing he job IMO
There is more than kicking goals to judge a play by. Buddy did not kick any but more than did his 'job for the team' thus giving Kurt more chances. Well done both boys.

Very true. Look at the highlights where Buddy put on a massive bump to enable Benny's goal. He does that sort of stuff all game but it's not counted as a stat unless you get onepercenters.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

I know they're not the be-all and end-all but 143 Supercoach points from a big man says that he was pretty dominant. Thats the most aggressively I've ever seen him tackle and attack the contest.

Saw him limping in the post game de-brief with Tom Mitchell.
After his comments on how lucky he was compared to his ex-teammate Riley from the Crows I hope he hasn't put the moz on himself.

Always fun to bump this thread

anyway, Carey is now weighing in on Tippett's performance.

Who invited Wayne Carey to have an opinion?
Go back into your hole buddy.
                    Carey is a wanker.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

So could Toby Nankervis cover the role the Tippett now does? Toby is a better mark overhead but not sure about the backup ruck work? What do others think?

Well for my annual reply to this thread.

                          I agree.

Tippo need to show us what he is being paid for...

The main point I get is that we don't want to loose players to keep him as of today's form.

Understand that his body was not 100% at the start of the year and is probably building nicely. Gaining confidence in what he can and can't do. If he is saving it for the finals.. then be very good in September. Where all will be forgiven

We can replace a player, but not improve our list. Sounds like equalisation. not.

I think this is on the money.

With Toby we can (potentially) get the same goals and hit outs as Tip, plus some much needed (Mummy style) aggression around the ball and a huge pressure off our salary cap.

Toby you are our great white hope.

I think we'll keep KT but I can understand the criticism and agree with some of it.

Truth is though he is doing a job for the side. His work as a second ruckman is valuable and if Pyke was injured he's slot in as #1 with both Sam and Nankervis not ready yet. He kicks his share of goals and takes the second defender.

He may not be quite earning his corn but he is doing a valuable job. I too would like to see him rip matches apart and kick some bags but I just hope that happens at the right end of September.

As for a trade, the only way I could see it happening would be if one of our rucks developed very quickly in the bac half of the year and was ready for regular senior footy this year. I think they are another year off but will be ready in 2017 which is when KT will probably be off elsewhere unless he is prepared to take a massive pay cut.
