I'm still waiting for Tippett to give us a breakout game....
He's a good player, does OK in the ruck, takes some good marks, kicks a couple of goals per game...
For the coin he's on, it isn't enough.
When does his extremely generous contract finish ? Is it this year or next.
If the Swans offer him an extension, I'd like to think it will be a much more realistic one.
Given the Swans generosity towards him (including having to cop his 11 match suspension),
I'd hope he would want to repay the favour and accept unders to stay at the club....Not holding my breath but I live in hope.Last edited by ernie koala; 4 May 2015, 04:37 PM.Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MTComment

My thoughts have wandered down that line a bit too. Keeping in mind that Sat. weather was not ideal for big, tall forwards, I am starting to wonder when we will see the dividends on our Buddy/KT investment. Last year Buddy definitely showed his worth no question. However the angst surrounding us getting Buddy was fuelled by the fact that it was on top of getting KT the year previously. The expectation or fear was that we were going to have the most awesome forward line of all time.
Well, the potential is still there but the good teams are not finding our set-up too scary so far - just a matter of shutting down the mids and/or keeping Buddy covered.Comment

Half the problem though is we really lack high quality delivery into the forward line more often than not. Imagine this awful prospect for a second - Tippett playing for the Hawks. He would kick an absolute bucketful playing out of the square for them.
I'd be pretty confident to say that when he was signed up, it wasn't envisaged that he would have such a role in the ruck that he has now either."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

If it would stop raining in Sydney we might get to see the best of Tippo.
We forget with the suspension and injuries he hasn't had a great run of it.
If you remember his Adelaide days he takes a while to get into form (confidence) i have high hopes for the 2nd half of this year.
The two big forwards need continuity playing together and so do the midfield kicking it to them.
i do wish he had a bit of Plugger/Baz in him though. Such a waste with that big body that he doesn't use it aggressively enoughComment

Good to see you're keeping up with the thread Tipoff.
Nice effort.Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.Comment

Yeah, you see Annie can't lose here.
Plays poorly - waste of money
Plays a game well - one game doesn't make him worth it
Plays like a star - it was Annie's comments that turned him into a star

When "Melbourne's" No. 2 defender is on Tipoff (that defender not being the freak that Tom McDonald is, and still playing in one of the crapper teams in the comp), you'd expect Tipoff to kick more than 4.Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

He only got to play like a star because arguably the No. 1 defender in the comp was wearing Buddy like a winter coat.

We recruited Tippett as a key forward. You can expect a decent goal output from a key forward.
With Buddy in the side, Tippett is now a forward/ruck. You can expect goals & hit outs from a forward/ruckman. & goals from Buddy. Between them we expect goals but both don't have to dominate. So long as on does, or they do between them. Or, if neither of them are, it's because 3 or 4 opposition back men are the focused on Kurt & Buddy's, freeing up another 1-2 avenues to goal for us. & Tippett should, with Pyke, at least give us the opportunity for majority use of the ball from hit outs. They mostly seem to so far (albeit that neither are dominant big men around the ground.
He doing he job IMOComment
