The salary cap amount for Kurt?s remains

The negotiation of his contract payment from the Swans to KT maybe have some room to move

I suspect that he may have a minimum contract amount$ plus game payments for KT given his injuries prior to renewing his contract? Not sure though but given his age and injuries and his possie u would guess so

He tried hard given his circumstances and is a lovely bloke

Whaaaat? I was gunning for the 6000th post on this thread!

Thanks for your service and enthusiasm as a Swan Kurt. A genuinely lovely guy.

        It's official.

Kurt Tippett announces retirement - sydneyswans.com.au

I'm sad and disappointed. In my view he was a good player and when fit definitely in the 22. I wish him well for the future.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Unfortunately has proven to be the worst deal we've had for a long time, given the amount of money we've paid vs the results he's given us. Just hoping, probably against hope, that we get some salary cap relief going forward as a result of him retiring.

I really think injury played the big part in this decision.

                Agreed.

Not a good time of year to end it either. Before the trade period or draft would have been better. Or done the team thing ... ask for a trade for whatever we could get for him and retire at your new club.

One would imagine it played the whole part in this decision. Hard to imagine him just getting bored and packing up stumps.

I'm with dimelb - sad and disappointed. He was a good player when he could get out on the park. Seems a very sad way to end a chequered career.

Obviously the reconstructed ankle won't take the strain of AFL footy. Sad way to end a career, all the best Kurt.

Retirements like this are usually a negotiated $ settlement. You'd reckon the two parties will do what's best for the club cap wise, may be some continued involvement at the club for that remuneration? Looks like we'll have a war chest to get Tom Lynch!

Just realised that Crows BF site will be lit up with joy - pricks!

I was hoping he?d retire on the Gold Coast.

No club is taking a player going in for an ankle reco. Timing is highly likely to be because of the ankle prognosis.

Might I suggest we put together 176 posts from the Tippett thread to highlight the high and lows of his 176 game career.

?176 games in 176 posts? sort of thing.

When I say we I?m meaning someone else; the ?executive we?.

I?m not certain his salary is the same situation as Buddy?s where the AFL effectively told us it would remain.

Ty Vickery?s salary is continued to be included in the Hawk?s cap for 2018. But I think this was because he was signed as a free agent.

Since his initial Swans contract, Tippy has since re-signed.

I too am sad and disappointed. I hoped the ankle surgery would fix his problems and we would see him back at his best. Obviously it hasn?t worked out that way. He has my best wishes for the future.
