If we get Lynch out of GC with the afl throwing everything at him for him to stay up there AFL hq will take away our draft picks and probably hand us a 6 figure fine as well for no reason. Again...

If we were to get Lynch and draft Blakey jr the afl and melbourne clubs will lose their minds.

I've heard rumours that he ran out of headbands, and the mob that make them no longer exists.

My colleague punched the air with joy over Tippos retirement.

It does feel like a decision that was taken for him i.e. he was pushed. And I?m not convinced it was based on new medical advice.

Longmire: ?Kurt has considered what?s best for the club and his teammates when making this decision, and he departs with our full support.?

He departs with our full support!

Just want to add my voice to the congratulations to Kurt Tippett for a terrific career. He was in my best 22 for 2018, on the assumption that a clear-bill of post-surgery health would see him enjoy a return to his 2016/early 2017 form which, on stats, was close to career best. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the big man play, and although I was disappointed by his GF appearances, wonder how much he was cruelled by the unsettledness of both the forward set-up and the ruck division over the past five seasons. We never did work out how to balance talls, smalls and crumbers. Had his ankle not crumbled, I was hoping that he could settle into the ruck/FF rotation, with Franklin playing further up the ground and Reid at CHF. Now I think that we will need to go with Sinclair in that role, as I just don't see Naismith offering enough either at FF or around the ground. On the other hand, maybe Naismith will have a break-out year under Dean Cox. Whatever happens, I hope that we have the courage to only play one ruck, and look to pinch-hitters for chop-outs. We need runners, not beanpoles. Hopefully we can settle on a forward division of Reid, Rohan, Franklin, Hayward and Papley, with Sinclair (and Heeney, Jack, Parker and Towers) rotating in.
So good on you Kurt; enjoy whatever comes next. Hopefully now you'll get to wear shirts that you don't have to shoe-horn yourself into, and will be able to breathe a little easier.

I enjoyed watching him play, and feel that he got a pretty crappy deal with a lot of stigma thrown at him, which was undeserved.
I believe he always did his best for the Swans, which is really all we can ask.
He's left his job, and I hope he moves on well and gets another one.

I saw someone write on Facebook "now that Kurt's gone, everyone is free to direct all of their anger at Towers"
Which is probably true. I feel sorry for Towers, he may as well hang it up now as well.

Sepp Blatter also suffered from having a lot of stigma thrown at him.

                  I'm a bit teary.
It's not his fault he's made of cheap plastic, most Ken dolls are.

What a gorgeous, well-mannered and funny young man he is.
                  I'll miss him.

I like many supporters hope that Kurt's body holds up during the season. He is a unit when fit and is very hard to contain. Having a chance to meet and talk gave me a little more respect for how competitive these guys are. Did I mention that he seemed to be a great guy?

There's no doubt we need a fit squad if we are going to have a crack at the end of 2018. KT is a part of that equation. Let's hope the doc is right, his body heals and he has a great year on the field!

My understanding is that if someone retires mid-season then they aren't included in the cap beyond that season. Hopefully someone after your post has confirmed this. Good news for us if that's the case.

Frankly, I'm over the moon about this news. He's a fantastic player and a nice bloke from all reports but his body has let him down and as a result has become a very expensive list clogger. This is going to free up a lot of cap for us in 2019.

I still haven't seen/heard anything that clearly answers whether any of Tippett's salary is included in the cap for 2019 & 2020. Harley was asked the question this morning and from the snippet I heard he was being evasive. He used the excuse that he wouldn't talk about private information which I agree with, but what does the dollar amount have to do with whether it is included in the cap?

It's bringing out the conspiracy theorists and I don't want to go through all that again ????.

Sydney football manager Tom Harley confirmed to SEN a settlement had been agreed between the club and Tippett, and they will not have to carry the entirety of the veteran?s lucrative contract.

?This is a decision by Kurt. He came to us and wanted to explore that.? he said.

?We won?t have to carry his salary for the full term of his three years remaining. He was contracted for three years prior to that, so it certainly won?t be that.?

Also at Swans Official Site , Harley said ?Only Kurt really knows how that impacted him, not only physically but mentally as well. Everyone will have their opinions.

?But from our point of view, I think like all footballers, as long as you can put your head on the pillow at the end of the day and say you gave it your all, Kurt certainly did that.?
