Tippett has agreed to a four-year contract offer to joins the Swans, who began negotiating a deal with the Crows on Monday morning, as the AFL's trade period officially opened.
Both clubs were coy about what the Swans needed to put on the table, although Ireland said no premiership players would be given up, which suggests Sydney's top draft pick,
No.22 overall, will need to be part of a deal.
But Ireland refused to commit to offering that pick.
It is understandable to be sentimental about the team that just snared the flag. But in the football world, clubs can't afford to be sentimental if they want to be successful.
I think there's a danger of confusing sentimentality and integrity. While the intangible difference may be hard to comprehend . . . . In 2005 Ted understands and in 2012 perhaps Kurt does too.
This club was shat all over many times over our history. Other clubs have picked off us like vultures, circling us like a carcass so that could steal a bevy of talented players for next to nothing. They've tried to kill us twice, abandoned us in Sydney and finally, finally after all of that we built ourselves up into a strong club, a respected club, but one that has to still fight hard to survive.

HAWTHORN has secured dual All Australian defender Brian Lake on the first day of the Gillette AFL Trade Period, with the Hawks and Western Bulldogs swapping a clutch of NAB AFL Draft picks as part of the deal.
The Hawks gave the Bulldogs their first two selections (currently No. 21 and No. 41), while the Bulldogs exchanged their second round selection (currently pick No. 27).
A very interesting solution agreement on what both clubs saw as fair !
Im fed up with outsiders giving our club stick for going for Tippett. If it was a melbourne said their would be no dramas. It's not as if we have tried to poach him away from adelaide or gotten in his ear. He simply has not wanted to renew his contract with that dump called adelaide and wants to move on. Rightfully we have pounced.
Every time you get annoyed with what outsiders think of the club just reapeat this 3 or 4 times. I guarantee your annoyance will be replaced with an inner glow of contentment.

..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

When we won the flag in 2005 I managed a convenience store in Eltham in Melbourne. A couple of tradie regulars missing front teeth and of course were Collingwood supporters, we giving it to me about concessions and we got lucky etc. I looked them in the eye, and with a cheeky grin said,
I have got 2 words for you blokes". "Yeah what's that". My reply; "Nick Davis". They paused and said. "you got us there".

Seems like a very fair deal. It's roughly equivalent to Lake for a pick around 33.
Smart on WBs part in that they off loaded Lake a year before he came out of contract and could go as a free agent. They realise he has no value to the future of the club, but at least got some reasonable compensation. The mistake Adelaide made is that they let the obvious drag out until they got nailed.
I don't know what we will be giving them for Tippett, but I feel quite confident their fans will be bitterly disappointed. They will be lucky to get anything close to fair value. And particularly lucky they are dealing with Sydney, as we tend to be very fair if not generous.

If it's a guess, it's not "very possible". In fact, it's very unlikely. Mumford has said if he had played 2009 premiership, he most likely would not have left Geelong. He played the 2012 premiership. He won't be leaving Sydney any time soon.
