Yep, he said 'next year', suggesting a back-loaded contract. It's that kind of list management that is why we're able to bring in players like Tippett, the COL allowance doesn't come into it.

Why would mummy want to go back to geelong? He has won a premiership with us and their is no way he would go back. Ridiculous comment.
LRT. Lord Roberts-Thompson. He may look like the Munster, but looks can be deceiving.

That comment seems just as ridiculous. Who knows what the future holds - and anything is possible in the realm of speculation - that is why it is such an entertaining pastime.

absurd; preposterous; laughable: a ridiculous plan.

Swanspant12..............sounds like the opposite to the consideration of all possibilities ?

I don't think it would be wise for the AFL to schedule a game for us in Adelaide next year.

Absolutely - the ferals are rabid and after blood. I fully expect the players to be covered in spit if the circumstance arose.

Ridiculous is suggesting something without any fact and reasoning behind it. Adam Goodes could decide to leave Sydney and join Melbourne on $100 000 if he wanted. Common sense, if anything, says 'hell no!'. Speculation - unfounded speculation - is not my form of entertainment. It drags any reasoned discussion straight to the gutter.

It goes to say anyone suggesting Rohan or Reid being trade bait (as has been widely circulated) is an absolute moron. Yes the Swans are chasing Tippett and kicking out the younger, more talented key forward who has just signed a 5 year deal to make that happen. Honestly anyone who even contemplates that should GTFO.

I wonder what it would take to prise pick 12 from GWS - the pick they've just secured from St Kilda. They already have picks 1,2 and 3 in the ND and may view 12 as expendable, particularly if we gave them our first round pick as part of the deal. Pick 12 to the Crows is equivalent to what the Dees paid last year for Clark and the circumstances are similar (and the players of similar calibre).

So long as they got a decent return, I think GWS wouldn't be against helping us out. They know it will be a few years before they are challenging, and I think they well understand how a strong Swans side now is beneficial to them as it keeps interest high in Sydney while they themselves are hopeless.

So what might they want along with pick 22 (or whatever it is) to give us pick 12? They really ought to be interested in some stronger, more mature bodies to help their young squad, but on the other hand, won't want list cloggers as next year they will need to start shedding some players.

The thing is Liz, GWS have been pretty greedy in stocking up on kids and have openly expressed a lack of interest in older, mature players. Logic suggests that they need bigger bodies and seasoned players to assist and teach some of the young kids, but their behaviour to date contradicts this.

Giles could be pried off on the other hand. Adelaide might be open to him and pick 22, though I'm not sure if they would demand more and what GWS would expect in return...

Adelaide are in a poor situation of their own making. If Tippett chose to go to GC, he would insist on the Gentleman's agreement of a second rounder, which would have been only a few picks past our 1st rounder. If not, he would simply say they reneged on the deal and go to the PSD and get nothing. Adelaide should be well prepared to accept a pick in the low 20s as compensation, as unfair as that may sound. But sometimes you just work yourself into a bad situation and you just don't get what you think you deserve.

That he's coming to Sydney is just beside the point. I think Adelaide will have to be prepared to take our first round pick or 2nd rounder and some combination of 2nd tier players. I don't think it's playing hardball. I actually think it's fair compensation given all the circumstances. The absolute best I would offer up is Grundy in a straight swap, which I think should be more than they could ever hope for.

Any more, I would just let it go and see what happens in the PSD. If we lose him, so be it. He could still fall our way despite us being last to pick. Players seem to get where they want to go.

Essendon outmaneuvered other clubs to snare Goddard. Maybe will have done the same to get Tippett. Adelaide were always going to be the sorry party in this outcome.

Whether true or not, many on here thought Adelaide got a steal in the Johnston-Armstrong trade, and maybe that will come pass as such. This trading business is more of an art than science.

Let's just give the entire population of Adelaide a weeks holiday in Sydney... A bridge climb, a ferry ride to Manly, a Bike ride to Luna Park, a train ride to Katoomba and a tour of the Opera House... A an ice cream at Messinas..

                          Tippett?

If Tippet does go into the draft it seems a bit unlikely he will go to Gold Coast - their first pick is now in the second round, isn't it? Brisbane are more of a chance but maybe GWS or even bulldogs would love to have him.

He'd go into the PSD, where GC have the second pick.

i think in the end, we will give up whatever pick/player we get for White and pick 22

OK, whose going to open a poll on whether or not we actually GET Tippett at all?

I'll start. No. He will walk and go to GCS and the following year do a deal to get to Sydney, how's that for a start?
