[QUOTE=penga;735620]Hmm. On current form, which is hopefully fleeting, it could be a symbiotic transaction. Tippett isn't stuck in the NEAFL, Tigers get a tall that they're screaming for, and we dump his contract. I don't see the bullying there.

Not sure you read my post correctly.

My point was that I don't think we'd take the course of giving Tippett an ultimatum of "take another offer or rot in the twos". Any deal would have to first of all suit Kurt and if he is happy in Sydney then I couldn't see any club paying overs.

Also, fully fit he is actually an important player for us. First of all we need three quality ruckmen in the squad and we are lucky that two if them in Sinkers and Tippett can also provide more than decent KPF cover of we lose Buddy or Sammy. If we let him go we'd need to find a replacement and I don't think we'd get much change from his $600K a year in getting a similar player in.

I'd be very surprised now if he leaves. If so we really do have a well balanced squad, just need to keep bringing through the youth for the next few year now. At some stage we'll need to replace Buddy but we've got a few years yet and a few options hopefully as to how we do that.

If there was a misunderstanding, it is semantics. All good.

I do agree with him being important to us, hance the, "on current form," proviso.

        Cheers.

For the record I don't think he is untradeable but I do think though it is clear now that any trade will need to be beneficial to us and Kurt, rather than us being in a forced seller position to clear cap space for a final bid at Sammy. I'd actually think we'd want a pick upgrade as well as full salary to be taken up and quite frankly I can't see anyone being that bonkers unless of course he has a huge finish to the year in which case you'd have to ask why we'd want to get rid of him.

Looking now at our list, and maybe this should be in the list management thread, but the Buddy deal really is starting to look like a piece of genius by us. He is on $1.2m next year and I imagine there'd be a raft of players on at least that but none as influential. Sure we took a hit with Mitchell who we are covering well and with the $2m one-off cap hike I suspect that we may even have a little change depending on how many cap-indexed deals were struck.

Tippett at $600K is looking OK in the current market, FFS even Levi Casboult is reputedly asking for that in his next deal. It's outrageous, egregious and preposterous...

Call me an optimist but I just feel it in my waters that Kurt boy is gunna shine in the next five and a bit weeks.

Either himself or by relieving a bit of pressure on Sam and Bud allowing them a bit of extra room to make an impact of their own.

He plays on until injured (preferably not) I think we'll find.

Feels to me like he's got an awful lot to play for.

I told them but they didn't listen. They never listen. If we didn't want Tippett as an old-fashioned, arguably outdated, stay-at-home full forward then we ought've traded him for a more durable tall capable of withstanding the rigours of rucking. And I'm not just talking game day. Ruck training is murder on joints making players more susceptible to injury at any time, especially those with dodgy knees and ankles to begin with.

Despite this, Kurt's physical wounds won't decide his fate with us, though we may've little choice regardless as I expect he'll ask to be traded at season's end. Maybe success'll change the dynamics but I'd not hold my breath waiting.

                  Vale Viserion Tippett.

For how disappointing Tippet has been It could be a lot worse we could appoint Nathan Buckley as coach for 2 years, who in their right mind would even consider that.......??????????????????????????????????????? ?????????????????????????????

I died a little inside when Tipoff limped off.
                      Poor bastard.
                      I feel for him.

Thank god we had 2 ruckmen on the weekend, 2.5 if you count Towers
                        Hurt Tippett will be OK

'Ask to be traded'.....have you heard something? I was under the impression he was happy to stay at the Swans.

He was last year when he signed the extension but stuff happens, relationships change. For what it's worth, I still think he's a blood and that still means something. No one is ever left on their own.

Assuming of course, the club doesn't take advantage of the situation because they have bigger fish to fry.

Who is bigger than Kurt Tippett?

By "bigger" do you mean more expensive?

The only good thing about our trade ban was that it stopped the Akermanises of this world from using us as a bogeyman to frighten extra coin out of their clubs. Our cap is tight and trading Tippett out ain't gonna make a whole lotta difference.

Mind you, in the whirlwind of trade week, who knows where the dust settles.
