Most of the van Berlo stuff is more about dissuading current Adelaide players from leaving than being anti-Tippett. They are just setting up a scenario that says: 'If you walk out on the club, regardless of your reasons, we are going to hate you and call you a traitor'. So for a town that finds it hard to retain out of state players, there's a bit to think about before looking to go elsewhere. The AFC have have had a lot of top notch players walk on them in the last few years. It's got to be a concern.

Most commentators agree that Tippett was the one that got shafted in this fiasco. Everyone else, the AFC execs, the Melbourne tanking team, the Visy-Judd deal arrangement, all got off lightly by comparison. Even the Swans made out well, as they got Tippett as a draftee without having to give up anything, which is why they accepted the deal without any fuss, and quietly slithered away like a bandit in the night.

Nooooo!! As soon as he plays his first game, people will be posting aplenty ... "was he worth the $?", "has he delivered?". "can he kick?"

In the lead up to his Swans debut, the conjecture will probably cause RWO to crash.

If his form is spectacular, people will post, hailing the recruiting coup to rival our key forward acquisition of Lockett, Hall, Cazaly & Capper (mark II)!

If he fails, others will cite the recruitment of David Cordner, Jason Love & Simon Minton-Connell as the savior of our forward-line.

Moderators, I implore you ... if you are even considering closing this thread, conduct a poll to see if it's the consensus of the RWO community!

Closing the thread is akin to Jarred Crouch ending his games run from debut ... let the record continue & grow!

Ironically by asking to close the thread Ajn has kept the thread alive. More power to you.

It has to stay open. It's like your favourite pair of warm winter trackie daks. Every year you swear you'll throw them out but, come the first June chill in the air, you whip them out and wonder why you ever contemplated turfing them.

Speaking of Adelaide and all things mullet... I think Tex has won the mullet competition. He's even got the "wave" mohawk thingy happening at the same time.

Has Tipoff cut off his mullet yet? I thought that was part of his contract with us.

I was referring to the original contract .. Tippett and his agent could have asked for anything but in the end it was up to AFC to accept it and register the contract they agreed to.

They really haven't come out of this whole saga very well and they looked like they missed KT the other night too...

Will Tippet be paid extra for his work with the Academy. Will it have Salary Cap implications and need AFL approval?

I wouldn't think he'd be paid anything extra for it - it'll only be while he serves his suspension; he's just working to earn his salary like everyone else.

At a postulated $900K for his first year, he's getting $39K(-ish) for a weekly clinic (cheaper if we make finals!) ... until he starts playing for $39K/game ... 3 hour clinic ... $13K/hr ... I want his job!

Early on I came to suspect that our new coach (Horse) was a member of the popular "No room for two ruckmen" school of thought. Last week in the Hun, Mike Pyke recently revealed that Horse "said last year we'd never play two genuine ruckmen the same side and we did that for 18 straight games with Mummy."

Of course those 18 straight games included the grandfinal, where for the 11th time in 12 the last 12 years. The premiers played two proper ruckmen in the grandfinal. With such overwhelming evidence, I assumed the new coach had joined the Paul Roos (two ruckmen needed to win a GF) point of view.

During an interview during last weeks game I actually heard Kurt claim himself to be a Ruckman who could play up forward. I thought that pretty rich, given his preference for uninterrupted forward play was claimed to be a reason for his disgruntlement with Adelaide.

Now leaving Kurt's "revisionism" aside, the Hun article suggested Mike may well have to compete with Kurt for a spot.

Early on in this endless thread there was a suggestion that Tippett's arrival could be bad news for our premiership winning ruck combination, this concern was viewed as fanciful and negative by some at the time . . . . . .

Why don't we all just wait and see what transpires before we get all worried about who will play where - give the football dept some credit - they know what they are doing as its their job. Tippett is a good thing - show some faith.
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................
