Kirky will bring out the best in them all; including Buddy.

Thanks for opening the Tipoff thread again.
    I missed it.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

Contract extension clause triggered will see him a Swan until he's 31 in 2018.
Enough talk of trading him. He's a Swan for life now.

Great news and a bit of a surprise. Extension already written into his contract.

We have them where we want them, everything is going according to plan!

Started the record setting thread to say Kurt was on his way to the Harbour City. Re-ignites the thread with the great news of a contract extension. I Tip-pet my hat to GS

Swan for life at 31? Well, hopefully he'll still be partnering a still fit Buddy, for at least a couple of years after that.
Anyway, I am pleased about this, because I certainly thought that Tippo was one of our best last season.

"KURT Tippett looks set to finish his career at the Sydney Swans after meeting contract incentives that have extended his tenure at the SCG until the end of 2018.

The lucrative four-year contract Tippett signed when he crossed to the Swans from Adelaide was set to expire at the end of 2016.

But AFL.com.au can reveal that Tippett, 28, has satisfied trigger clauses in that contract which have earned him a new two-year deal.

Tippett will be 31 by the time his new contract expires, when it seems highly unlikely he would seek a fresh start at a third AFL club."

What happens if a player satisfies the requirements for contract incentives but doesn't want to exercise them? Let's say they have a falling out with coach or teammates & doesn't want to automatically extend his contract or hits a spectacular vein of form that escalates his value at other clubs beyond what his contract extension would pay him?

Whoops, you seemed to take that as a criticism, which wasn't my intention. What I was trying to suggest, was that it would be nice if Tippett could partner Buddy, for as long as Buddy's contracted.

We should remember that these incentive provisions were made before we knew Buddy was on his way, so they are likely to trigger an extension with a big paycheck. I suppose we could say that we also knew about the possibility of the extension when we signed Buddy. I only make this point to say that we will have a number of players now that are probably on pretty fat paychecks and it may impact what we can do regarding free agency and contract negotiations with existing players.

I'd love to know what the triggers were and what the new $ are. I hope it's less than what we originally paid otherwise we might paint ourselves into a corner.

Hopefully we can bring a ruckman along this year so Tippo can create havoc up forward.

If he stays fit and gets good service from the mid-field, I think this year and next will be his peak as a player. If allowed to play forward consistently, a Coleman chance for mine (probably 2017 more likely).
