    2013 Best XXII

Please forgive me if this has already been discussed but was wondering what people thought our best XXII would look like next year.

You would assume that Rohan and McGlynn would be in it and probably Tippett if he comes.
Then you have the likes of Everitt, Walsh and Mitchell in the wings.

So who would be the premiership players to make way?

Assuming we get the big Tippo and Jude retires.

        B: Shaw Richards Smith

        HB: Johnson Grundy Mattner

        C: Jetta Jack Hannebery

        HF: Rohan Reid McVeigh

        F: McGlynn Tippett Goodes

        R: Mumford Kennedy O'Keefe

        B: Parker, LRT, Morton, Malceski
LRT. Lord Roberts-Thompson. He may look like the Munster, but looks can be deceiving.

          B: shaw, Richards, smith.
          HB: Johnson, Grundy, Malceski.
          C: Jetta, ROK, Mcveigh
          HF: Rohan, Reid, Mcglyn.
          F: LRT, Tippet, Goodes.
          Following: Mumford, Kennedy, Jack.
          Interchange: Hanners, Bolton, Parker, Armstrong.
          Emergency: TDL, Mattner, Mitchell.
I don't think there will be room for 2 rucks if Tippet comes in, seeing how both Tippet and LRT can play second ruck.

The only reason I say that (which won't happen, this is what I want to happen) is because we need to start bringing in our younger kids, as a lot of our backline is getting old.

Start with the team that won the Premiership. That team has the right to play Round 1 IMO. The only changes should be injury or retirement related, with the exception of McGlynn. The Tippett deal isn't over the line yet and Gaz won't be match ready until Rd 8 at the earliest IMO.

During the year I expect to see Gaz, Mitchell, Armstrong, Lamb & Walsh pressing and getting a few games. Hopefully a few others too.

I was impressed with Everitt this year - especially the Geelong game at the SCG.

Agree with this, though if Tippett does arrive, you'd think he'd be in the side, at the expense of either LRT or Pyke (with LRT a chance to push someone else out of the backline).

I'd like to add Cunningham and Heath as two more players pressing and getting a few games.

The irony of this is that if some of these fringe players don't crack the side they will leave and other sides could to do to us what we were able to do by turning around other teams' fringe players ie Teddy, Joey, etc

I agree, my main concern is with the older players who will always keep their spot but our younger players getting annoyed they can't get a game and leaving the club. Sadly, I think it's best if Bolton retires, I love the guy but what better way to go out as a 300 game dual premiership player? And this allows younger guys like Parker and Mitchell to get into the midfield because they're both guns and both have very exciting futures and I don't want either leaving the club, same with the backline, I think we need to get our younger defenders in there ASAP, before they decide to leave, there are very exciting players in our reserve and I can't wait to see our future, we just need to plan it right and keep the good ones.

I reckon Rohan will be wearing lime green for a fair bit next season.
Especially in the first half of the season.

How good is it that we are struggling to pick a best 22 from our current list???

As a 325 game triple premiership player ........
