Loathe as I am to interrupt a thread that has moved on to such a high point, I'd like to add my thoughts on the article (remember that?). I thought it was a great piece by Caroline Wilson and love Mitch's honesty in being prepared to speak about it. As a sporting coach of young kids I see examples of it sometimes, although not to that level, and it's good to read about it happening at the highest level to help give me some extra insight into helping the kids manage it. I also have a very close family member who has suffered from it for many years as part of a greater psychiatric condition and I know first hand the paralysing effect it can have if it is allowed to. Well done to Mitch for being able to find the best way for him to deal with it and being able to play footy.

Now, back to the double entendres. Anyone want me to give them one?

I was amazed after reading the article that Ms Wilson could actually write a positive article. Her usual style is attack and untruths.

Very honest approach by Mitch and although there is supposed to be greater acceptance in society today of mental illness, there isn't. If you tell someone you have had a heart attack as compared to having a psychotic episode there is a different response.

Mitch's anxiety is very significant and apart from counselling he sounds like he could do with some medication help, at least in the short term.

The last few weeks have hilited the tragic impact that mental illness can have with the deaths of a few rugby league players and the barrister earlier this week.
Nothing like a good light bulb moment.

Well done Dr, it appears you've managed to get this thread back on track.

          You must have some pull....

I just read the article and enjoyed it. Well written from a journalist I don't have much time for.

I don't agree with all that Caro writes and she has tended to be a bit Melbourne centric on the whole but she has written plenty of good features, profiles and news articles over a long career in one of the most harshly judged journo beats in the country.

I think this is one of her best. It takes a good journalist with broad understanding to get an interview subject to relax and open up for this sort of article to work.

Reminds me of that joke "What do sea captains give each other for Christmas? Small tugs.

Where's the good Doctor ?????? Might need a specialist this time.

No, that's dancing: navel engagement without loss of seamen.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

I always thought the definition for dancing was "a vertical expression of a horizontal desire".
