I have never seen a crowd turn on their own like Collingwood.

Even as they played ok in the last their "supporters" deserted in droves.

Support your team through thick and thin Folks !

    That's what engenders great culture.

      Yeah me too.
sure we weren't as clean as normal, but that's what happens with a frantic pace.
Collingwood were way more unclean and fumblier than us.
      Fumblier is now a word.

Not sure you can be critical of the Collingwood culture - one of the strongest around.
Everyone has different ways of supporting their team.
Melbourne supporters seem to enjoy tearing their players a new one as the walk down the race.
I watched the game live on FTA last night rather than making my way to the MCG - mainly because I had a lot of work to do and took advantage of the hour travelling time each way to the ground.
Kind of regret that now, but this is the way the AFL wants it I guess.
Regardless, it made me feel good to see the ground empty.
I envisage lots of B&W walking out silently with their heads hung in shame, and then many of them crying on their pillows when they got home - works for me

It was great being able to stretch out and watch the last quarter in relative comfort after all the Collingwold supporters around me left!

best game in the R&W for Benny McG? Must be close, all the hunger and intensity we could hope for, looks a real leader when he plays like that.

A fantastic effort from the boys, now they need to keep it up! As good as we were, the Pies were just bloody dreadful - something not quite right there I reckon.

There was a specific 50 introduced a few years back against someone retarding a player who has just passed/handballed....if that player was intending to go forward and receive the ball back...so there you go,....correct call - not just a free. Possibly debatable if the Collingwood player was trying to receieve the ball back.

The Tiger's supporter that dumped the truckload of manure at the Club. That's a hard one to beat. I think it was during the Frawley coaching years (90's).

Well better stop procrastinating and off to junior footy at 6 am. Damn home games !!! At least I get to listen to the gardening show on 2GB. Good ol Graham Ross.

I'd have to disagree, a lot of Swans supporters walked out at 3/4 time at the Hawthorn game. I didn't stay much longer myself, the game was very disappointing to watch. If anything, people should be commended for just going to the football, there are so many competing options out there.

I don't know if you could draw a causal link between culture and how long fans stay behind for a loss. Some could say that those supporters who are extremely and intensively passionate about their club would HAVE to leave because staying and watching a poor effort is so upsetting that they could make things worse for their friends and family around them if they stayed any longer.

The players can't wimp out and go home early.

As for the young girl, and she is really that, a very young girl, she really had no idea. I am fairly sure it still hasn't reached her, she just sounds puzzled. And Adam was right, this is exactly where the buck stops, at the mindless comment.

Does this mean I cannot call the umps maggots anymore? I hope to do as she said she would, think twice, but......I am now mindful that I have probably charged over the line myself.

Think Twice may be a good tag for the whole incident.

I'm going to disagree with that comment.
Anyone can be loyal without 100% support.
Loyalty can mean taking an interest in the Swans and how the season is going.

My main issue with this is "Trial by media". Goodes asked for the child to be left alone and fortunately this time it hasn't been too bad.

As far as the racists comments girl goes, I think that she kind of is enjoying the spotlight.
She seemed very comfortable in front of the cameras and quite defensive of her actions.

I believe that a two tear ban should be put in place for her, and then allowed to attend again after attending some kind of anti racism education.

The point isn't what she said - none of my kids aged 11 to 17 knew how the word she used was offensive until I explained. however they would never act like that at the football of anywhere else.

This girl would have had what she said explained to her, and she still doesn't seem to get it.

Unless there are strict guidelines for kids like this, parents will never 'get it' either and things won't change.
