I believe that a two tear ban should be put in place for her, and then allowed to attend again after attending some kind of anti racism education.

The point isn't what she said - none of my kids aged 11 to 17 knew how the word she used was offensive until I explained. however they would never act like that at the football of anywhere else.

This girl would have had what she said explained to her, and she still doesn't seem to get it.

Unless there are strict guidelines for kids like this, parents will never 'get it' either and things won't change.

Sadly, I tend to agree with that CureTheSane.

There was footage this morning on gameday of a much older Collingwood fan being clearly racist at the game on Friday night:

Obviously, there is still that disgusting minority out there. Hopefully this whole episode will help to continue the fight to eradicate racism from society once and for all.

It's kind of weird for me all this stuff.
Rightly or wrongly I just tend to lump most people who come out with racist comments as boganly and trashy.
      Times have changed significantly though.
Anyone who stood behind the goals at Victoria Park or Western Oval many years ago would be able to draw a compelling comparison with what is acceptable now compared with what used to be.

It's quite ironic that while we move into the top4 on the back of that horrible draw with Freo, we could well drop back out of the 4 on the back of an 8 goal win over the Maggots . . . . . . Freo has the D's.
        It's a funny old game

The amount of racism in the world is a sad indictment of humanity. I have been to 75 countries around the world and the one constant has been that I've never been to a country where people weren't racist. I lived a long time in both the United States and France and in both most of the ethnic European majority are very racist toward dark-skinned people from whatever origin. In Chile, the overwhelming European majority treat the indigenous Mapuche in a similar manner to the way Euro-Australians treat Australian Native People.

It is natural for any People to believe that their own group is somehow superior to outsiders. The elites in society exploit this to control their own citizens by redirecting attention of disadvantaged people in the ethnic majority toward ethnic minorities as a source of their problems. This is particularly evident in the United States where racism is encouraged for poorer whites in a strategy of divide and conquer which deflects the anger for the impoverishment of the country away from the wealthy and toward Blacks, Muslims and other minorities.

I believe the term true Australian should be reserved for Aboriginal People. Euro-Australians, like myself, should be forever grateful to the indigenous people of Australia for allowing us to share their land, which rightfully belongs to them (even though is was not their choice to do so). There have been few Peoples on Earth that have been so disenfranchised by foreign invasion and occupation as our own indigenous people. I personally think the way to end racism is Australia is to return most of the land of Australia back to it's Native People and allow them to benefit from the natural resources now being exploited by multi-national corporations.

It is fine to have the usual platitudes of 'stamp out racism' and an Indigenous Round of football, but little will ever change until white Australians are willing to give up part of what was stolen from the Indigenous People. The parents of the young girl in the incident have taken a large part the blame for the racist remarks, but we should direct our attention toward our politicians and demand that they take real action in returning the dignity and culture back to our Native Australians in a substantive way.

Possibly debatable if the Collingwood player was trying to receieve the ball back.
We got one in Tassie last year at a critical time in the game that IIRC we goaled from. I think Mal had disposed of the ball and started to run forward and was grabbed by an opposition player.

All true. I think the point is that Collingwood fans seem to leave in a higher percentage when they're losing than fans of other teams.

Anyway, back to the game. I thought we were bloody marvellous on Friday night. I felt like we finally turned up this year. Great tackling pressure, more speed and enthusiasm & better options in attack. The real improvement was in our defence though. We were right back to the miserly defensive unit we were last year. Rampe had his best game for us and Everitt did a great job in the role he was assigned. Malceski was magnificent and only pipped by Goodesy for best on ground for mine. I know what has transpired afterwards has understandably taken some of the attention away from the win, but lets remember how well we played too!

Agree. I've just re-watched the game and appreciated the effort that was put in by all our players. The pies were never in it.

On the replay I was struck by Rampe's desperate touch of the ball to turn a certain goal into a behind. Nice work, and very Bloodlike!

I agree to an extent.. but maybe (just maybe, I'm not certain myself) but because they have so many members that when the fairweather fans leave it appears to be higher than other clubs. For example, say every club had about 10% of supporters (both fans and members) leave early when their club looked unlikely to win in the last quarter, it would appear much more severe in Collingwood colours because they have *more* supporters. ie. (10% of their 75,000=)7500 members leaving the game at 3/4 time looks much worse than our (10% of 35,000=)3500 members leaving at 3/4 time.

This is all just speculation anyways, I don't have any proof either way

At the MCG it can take an hour to get out of the car park. A Friday night game finishing when it does doesnt help. Happens at almost all games that are not close in night games. Wait to see if the Pies continue the downward slide then you will see how many of their fans stick and if their game attendance slides.

Why the heel didn't Morton claim his mark in the goalsquare....surely it would have been paid? Ump called "Play On' AFTER he played on and missed what would have been a certain goal.

After a truly fabulous win it might be petty to gripe but.....gee we butchered quite a few opportunities to score. We aren't going to have the luxury of more than 30 shots at goal against a top team very often. Usually we would be hoping to win with 21 or so and scoring 14.7 ()

On Friday night we made a dissappointing number of BRAIN blunders that saw us not bury Collingwood much earlier.....Jetta not handpassing to Jack for an easy goal and putting it OOBOF from the pocket instead....(BTW Chelsea R will be demoted for that blunder - she paid a point)

Also Jetta going the checkside, Morton not taking Rampe's kick on full.

Also Everitt's absolutely appalling kick into 50.......had two really easy targets one 20 metres away one 40 metres away with both players 10m off their man....yet kicked it 50 metres to a place where two Collingwood players were the closest to it.

                                I Like Mike!
