    McPharlin's quite underdone too so I couldn't see him running The Hyphen ragged

      to win the last qtr against Freeo when they go ballistic just bombing away into our 50m arc we will need LRT in my opinion.

      i would have him as a sub personally !

        I would not be suprised to see LRT back in. He looked in decent shape yesterday in the NEAFL, and as Industrial has said, at very least he can anchor McPharlin in the square and make a contest. At very least, we know he can bring the ball to ground and give us a chance to keep it down there.

        If it was me and he has recovered well, I would be bringing him in. He has big game experience, and you know he will play his role for the team, whatever that may be. Also gives us a little bit of flexibility if we need him to go back (if heaven forbid anyone else should get injured!)

          I'm on a roll (hey - we've all sat on our lunch at least once) , so I will call it now : Swans to beat Freo by one point , Nick Smith sending us through with a behind after the siren.
          Now,if only I could recall where I put my pills....
          Love your loyalty and enthusiasm, but even though I hope I am wrong, I can't see us defeating Freo at home this weekend. The boys have been really brave to get to the preliminary final with the youngsters performing above and beyond all expectations. Injuries have crucified our defense of the flag. Bring on 2014. As I said I hope I am totally wrong.

            The Swans definitely have enough in their armoury to knock off Freo. The. Number of finals experience games will be a factor and they really like that ground and all the animosity over there..... Remember Mickey O.

              Just as Geelong were unbeatable in the qualifying final at Kardinia so are the Dockers unbeatable in the prelim at Subi. Until they actually get beaten!!! My expectations aren't high but I think we have to be given a chance.

                I hope LRT is selected. We will need a swing-man.

                  They will probably bring back McGlynn, but he has had a calf injury. Frankly he doesn't seem to perform against the better sides and goes missing for far too long. His forward defensive work against Hawthorn last week was non-existant, his turnovers deadset hurt us when he plays and he misses too many sitter goals.

                    I hope they don't bring back McGlynn or Rohan. We need fit players. Lamb or BJ will do.

                      Out: Mitchell, Tippett

                      Seems that the 2 outs didn't do much in last week game anyway! :~

                      Will be good to play Freo with a full complement of players..

                        I would guess McGlynn for Williams and either Morton / Rohan / LRT for Tippett. I would like to see either Morton or Rohan playing deep forward leading up leaving Pyke White to contest. I think it could be a good role for Rohan leave him at FF with instructions to lead up every chance. Use his pace in our FWD 50. I think the sub this week should be Jude I don't think he can run out a full game at Subiaco but could have an impact in our fwd 50 late in the game.

                        Cheers

                          There's probably a counter to each of these, but here are some thoughts on why we might win:

                          1. Everyone's written us off and our backs are against the wall - the time when the Swans are at their most dangerous;
                          2. Our forward line will be restructured, making it difficult for Lyons to plan against;
                          3. McVeigh is on fire in the midfield and will probably return there this week;
                          4. Jetta is fit and looking dangerous and will probably turn it up a notch this week. He'll probably be on our starting 21 and our structures will be designed to make the most of that;
                          5. Our back 6 is looking solid - Teddy's playing and Grundy's in season-best form;
                          6. Our midfield got their intensity back last week after a week of recovery - expect to see another level this week;
                          7. With Jetta, Cunningham, Biggs and potentially B Jack in the team this week, we've got some great speed on the wide expanses of Subiaco. I expect Jesse to remain upfield as well, making breaks, using his speed and feeding it into the forward 50;
                          8. The lads love the trip to Perth and some of our greatest performances have been there;
                          9. Aside from a final quarter lapse when it looked in the bag, we were the better team last time we met;
                          10. The weight of experience in the final weeks of September is on our side;
                          11. The weight of expectation and favouritism is on their side;
                          12. They've played one hard game in the last 2-odd months. Geelong are prone to sudden lapses of form and they're the only real measure of Fremantle's recent performance; and
                          13. There's been no shortage of upsets this year or even in the finals series.

                          If we get an early lead, I think we're in with a real shot. What I worry about most is our ability to come back from behind.

                            I agree. I thought Williams did nothing at all last week. Didn't even notice him on the ground that's how bad he was.
                            Nothing like a good light bulb moment.

                              Afl.com.au rated him as a 6 in their post-match report...

                                It certainly wasn't one of his better games, but he was one of the few players that didn't seem to be bothered by the slippery conditions. I'd back him in for the Freo game, especially if the conditions are wet.
