Says a three way deal between pies Eagles and us has been agreed to in principle but doesn't say what we're getting for White but does say Armstrong is out of the deal

I think this is all interesting theatre and sure it is fun to speculate in this thread. The whole business is very complex. You end up losing in some areas to gain in others. The only real debate should happen at the end when all squads are locked in. Hey but whats the fun of that, we then know 70% of the facts!Comment

hhm thanks Liz
I wonder what pick Jonathon will go at the draft ?
he has that little bit of Gary Rohan about him in his style of play...........his last 25 seconds of the video link is a fantastic effort

Sometimes this is a result of uncontrollable circumstances, but football is a business, and this is not a mentality for business.
Rather, it is - "win all, lose none".

I'm seeing a lot of criticism here of Swans mgt trades - "rolling over for trade pick value" and "being nice guys". Let's not forget that this is the same mgt team that secured both Tippett and Franklin - for zero trade pick cost and in the face of very hostile opposition to each. Both deals were real coups and we hardly were nice guys. Rather, Swans mgt were ruthless, cunning and astute where other clubs weren't (e.g. Crows business acumen in the Tippett saga was abysmal).
In planning these coups, Swans mgt certainly would have factored in the broader cost of getting these two guns, such as needing let other players go. You can criticise one trade, such as Mummy for 35. However, if you're the Swans mgt team, each trade is not standalone. Rather, it's a jigsaw puzzle where everything is linked and the pieces keep moving. We achieve this despite year after year being low in the draft order due to our high finish to each season. I don't think there is a better club in the AFL at list mgt, so I will trust their judgement on Mummy, Dre, etc.CIA Agent to Policeman: "Have you ever had anti-terrorist training?"

Jesse should have been the forward to replace Barry Hall, but the Swans never gave him the encouragement and support they granted to Sam Reid. Unfortunately the Swans in the process also put Sam Reid in such a physically demanding position as a young athlete and now he is injury prone and physically smashed up!
It's also encouraging to see Jesse make some positive inroads in his work life outside of Football. I don't know about his clothing label, but he seems a young man of innovation and determination and I'm sure he will be a success. So many afl footballers spend their time laying on the beach, drinking lattes, chasing models and being clowns on end of season trips and do nothing else with their lives!
Like Leo Barry now winning awards in Stockbroking at Merril Lynch, Jesse will be a big success after his football career is over, because he is building his post football life now!Comment

It does not worry me if we only get pick 44 for Jesse White and Tony Armstrong. The Swans over the last 4 years have not allowed Jesse to play and develop to his full potential, and they owe it to Jesse to give him a great opportunity at another club where he can have great success.

What I am concerned about with any new trades from here on is that we can't really take more than 3 live picks and we already have 15, 35, 39 and 53. I'm fine if we don't use 53. But what does adding pick 44 do for us? It's a useless pick. It's like the Giants giving us 39. We only got that pick because they had no intention of using it.
And then there is the unsettled situation with Everitt. What could we possibly get for him that would help our draft position? I am resigned to the fact that we will get little compensation for these players compared to their actual trade value, but hope that we can at least upgrade our existing picks. I can't see the point of trading for picks that we cannot use or package up for a higher pick.Comment
