Changes for the Pies

Jesse and Joey's situations could barely be further apart.
Kennedy was a young fella behind a gun midfield and moved for the opportunity to play seniors footy.
Jesse was a 6-year player in a era of an often dysfunctional forward line who continually failed to grasp opportunities when presented to him...
Jesse is a Collingwood player. I'm not too fussed how he goes.Bloods

We should all be positive about whatever success Jesse White can have at Collingwood. The Swans have taken recycled players from other clubs such as Josh Kennedy and Ted Richards and they have become vital parts of our team.
Some on this forum laugh about Jesse White being labelled as a key inclusion for the Pies.
The Hawks fans would not have thought much of Josh Kennedy?s early years at the Hawks. What Josh needed was a coach and a club that appreciated his talents, had a role for him, and made him feel that he is a vital part of the team. Josh responded and is now amongst the best players in the AFL.
Jesse now has a club with a clear role for him, a coach who believes that he can have a great impact, and a club ready to embrace him. Let?s all wish him well and hope that he can be as dynamic for the Pies as our recycled stars like Josh Kennedy and Ted Richards are for us.Carn the Southern Power.....Comment

That's the key difference. For his size Jesse just seemed so weak at times, not to mention him admitting it took him 6 years before he realised he needed to try harder.
It's a slap in the face to our club.Comment

THats just a maturity thing . I dont see it as a slap in the face to the Swans. He was lucky in that the Swans perservered which lead to him getting another chance at an age when many others would have been discarded.
Jesse continually underperformed and the reality is that if someone had asked you at the end of last season (even after his good finish) - White or Franklin - the answer is pretty easy.Comment

I think it was more to do with the fact that he couldn't get a senior game, Clarkson (to his credit) was open with Josh in telling him that he was well back in the pecking order, and that the Hawks were only able / willing to offer him a one year contract. The Swans saw a role for him and were willing to give him a three year contract. I don't recall reading anything to suggest the salary cap was an issue.Comment

Sorry but lack of maturity isn't an excuse to not give it your all for almost your entire career to date, especially on his pay packet.Comment

On the topic of Jesse White ... I would imagine over the years Ted and Reg would have matched up against him countless times in training and intra-club matches. Assuming one of them will be getting him this Sat night, I'm optimistic he will be held in check.CIA Agent to Policeman: "Have you ever had anti-terrorist training?"
Policeman: "Yes, I was married once."Comment
