Beautiful morning here in Melbourne with chance of late showers, so it will not be too wet. So I expect both Pyke and Derickx to play. Hopefully Pyke spends majority of time forward to take a defender off buddy.
I'd love to see Membrey get his chance too. He's been doing great in the Magoos for 18 months now so I think it would be interesting to throw him in and see how he goes. I think he will get his chance in the coming weeks against one of the lesser teams. He does need to improve his fitness though. This will be particularly important as he isn't tall enough to play as a big marking forward at AFL level.

I really think it's a confidence thing that won't be resolved by him playing in the 2's. He needs a good, solid game in the 1's and, with injuries, the next couple of rounds are probably the perfect time to do it.
A bit like the great White hope who was always going to have a breakout game but didn't. Played the odd ok game but never realised the perceived potential heaped upon by Swans supporters. On confidence; how long do you wait for that. You can have all the confidence in the world against lesser teams but it's no good if it disappears against the likes of Port. He is not ready yet.

I agree he's not ready but at the moment we can afford to carry him and this will fast track his development. He has a role , and it seems the coaches believe he is performing it, otherwise he wouldn't be in the side.

Jesse White is six years older than Jack so I think the doubts about his consistency given his maturity are and continue to be justified.

As Melbourne Blood says, we're not going to win or lose the next couple of rounds just because BJ is patchy. He'll be an important depth player for us over the next couple of seasons so I think it's worth giving him game time at AFL level.

When you criticise players like Jesse White and Brandon Jack you need to remember where they came from. Jesse White was a draft pick in the 70s, while Brandon was a low pick in the Rookie draft. They have both performed above their initial expectations.

A lot more should be expected of 1st round draft picks like Towers and Jones because they are more highly valued acquisitions!

I've seen there has been two other threads closed down over the last two days.

It's been refreshing not to be the Red and White whipping boy for a change.

Very true - expectations for Jesse were always based on what sort of player he could be. Expectations for high draft picks are based on what sort of player they should be.

and Wolfie should be back soon, he'll probably want his job back so you should be safe for a while.
