Both venues have attributes in their favour but as an interstate visitor to Sydney getting to the western venue is a lot harder, it's lacking in transport and entertainment infrastructure and to me lacks atmosphere.
That's my opinion and none of your pseudo facts or offensive and snide comments will alter that.
Lacks transport?. It has its own train station

ANZ ticks a lot of boxes and will be much better with a roof... but haters gotta hate because a few jim bobs dont like the cheap seats in red zone.
Says it all really about your obsession and attitude Barry

Not everyone is loaded like yourself and able to afford your fancy pants wanky ANZ membership. Get down off your high horse!

I only went to one game at Victoria park and the swans won after a goal was kicked from a free kick. The magpie natives were very restless after the siren and I remember there were police on horses outside the ground. I was primary school age so it was a little scary!

Great venue, great atmosphere, great comraderie. Unlike that hole of a ground Princes Park (Carlton) and that dog of a place Windy Hill (Essendon).

I only went to windy hill once. Carlton v essendon. Really enjoyed it. Small grounds are a lot of fun.

As you know mcs, I am a man of the people. And that is why I am excited about the roof. It will give shelter to those less fortunate.

Barry, the supporters were the ones that made them not my favourite places. A number of grounds weren't that big. Carlton though was all round crap for visiting supporters.

I think you convienently left out two really big cons for the SCG.
                1) woeful public transport
                2) owned and operated by cricket for cricket

                  * ANZ Stadium is good for 1 max 2 home games a year against big drawing Victorian clubs. Why neglect the 1000s of Swans fans out west who do find it easier to get to?
                  * I would follow and support the team if they played on the mud near Warragamba Dam.
                  * There is nothing we or the club can currently do about the contract arrangement presently in place so GET OUT to ANZ Stadium, put your whinging away for the next month, support our team and let's hope we see 3 wins there on the way to the MCG!!

                  GO SWANS!
This sums up how I feel for the most part. I had just posted my thoughts, but then I realised you had expressed them more clearly and succinctly than I had, so I thought I'd just quote you, instead.

I love going to the SCG and personally think it's a much better place to watch AFL, but I understand why we play at ANZ Stadium and I'm happy to attend games at both venues.

I deleted as I didn't want to add fuel to the fire, but I don't think these are massive cons, (1) is debatable as I know the traffic is awful around that area but it is very well served by buses (even if they slow to a crawl on Friday nights). I'll grant you (2) but this is partially offset by Colless joining the board of the SCG Trust.

                      That is true.

                      Besides the surface.
As a Melbournite, I find getting to and from the stadium from the airport a breeze by train, even though it takes 3 trains to get there.
There is Hotel accommodation within spitting distance, and I found the bars nearby quite handy, if not a tad crowded.

I had no issues when I came up for the '12 PF v Pies.

I hate Etihad and ANZ. However, I do enjoy going to Docklands and Homebush is OK by me as an occasional venue.

Will someone please think of the children.

Didn't we get sent a questionnaire a few months ago about the SCG v ANZ from Swannies membership? "Which do you see as the spiritual home of Sydney/ which do you prefer?" or something along those lines. The last I heard from the club (earlier in the year at the round 13 v Port game - at a time when the "Portress" was getting a lot of attention) was that the Swans wanted to create a similar atmosphere at the SCG.

At least one of our banners that I can recall had a little tag line "Fortress SCG" in the corner. It has been bandied about that after the ANZ deal expires, the Swans would be very keen to play All home finals at our Northern G!!

I live about half an hour's drive closer to Homebush, but I much prefer to spend the extra 20-30 minutes to get over the bridge than go to ANZ. The only really memorable moment I have from Homebush is waving bye-bye to Collingwood fans leaving 10 minutes early at the end of the 2012 Pelim

It's great to be a man of the people. I thought I was a man of the people as well but I realised that I've never read a Gas Bill. My wife pays the Gas Bill and my flat mates before her just asked me for a monetary contribution.

I guess the big question is "Are the Swans a club of the people". I believe the Swans are a club for the middle classes. The Swans are a inner-city, Latte drinking, Chardonnay Swilling, Ben Sherman wearing Football Club. That is to be celebrated.

You can see that Homebush is a struggle for Swans Target Market because it's harder to access a good Latte or taste test some Chardonnays.

Barry is fighting for the common man and we need to remain at Homebush to keep in touch with the common man.

I'm asking the hard questions about who we really are. The SCG holds 46,000, while Homebush can hold 80,000. Lets allow more people to watch the Swans live in a final.
